First SEC road game for QD and a lot of the receivers and they had execution problems all throughout camp supposedly and so far this year. I am ok with taking a shot, but 7 times out 7 inside their 10 yard line we go with the unit that has been most inconsistent so far this year? Just doesn't seem like good coaching, IMO.

Pick 6 wasn't a drop. It was a bad throw caused at least partially by the QB being hit, that could have been caught but would've been a great catch.

Would you rather:

A. Put the game in a shaky QB and freshman WR hands?

Or

B. Put the game in the hands of your stud RB who has been crushing the soul of the D?

The pass plays MAY have been good calls if we have Montana and Rice, but we had a QB in his third start and inexperienced WRs

Those are factors that have to be accounted for. As well as clock management, knowing that our D is stuffing them.

The pick in goal to go and the pick 6 changed the whole game. It isn't a good play call if you don't have the right players to execute.

Put. The. Ball. In. John. Freaking. Kelly's. Hands.

Fair enough, and of course hindsight proves you guys right. I just think we're having a very different conversation if we catch even one of those.

Tbh at the time, I was surprised and a little happy at the trust shown in Dormady in those situations, and the move away from ultra-conservativeness Butch has shown in the past. It just didn't work out this time... I'm just confused that some of the Butch bashers can't see that it very easily could have worked out, even if he coached the game the exact same way.

On Chip Kelly

Said he knows him and sees him each week. Said he will be a factor in coaching searches in SEC. Said don't know specifically if it will be Tennessee or not.

If and it's a big IF, TN fires Jones, why wouldn't Kelly want to come here? The East has been down for years now, and he could contend for SEC East titles just about every year. Kinda like Bama controls the West, TN could control the East.

To be clear, I've never been a Butch basher, but I guess I am being one now. And I'm not just making this argument in hindsight. I always watch the games with my son and I told him before all of the plays that we are talking about that we need to protect the ball and run.

Put the game in the hands of the best player on the field. It isn't even about conservative or not, it's about knowing the situation.

If Kelly catches the pass across the middle on 1st and goal (which was low and behind him btw) they still march down and score the game winning touchdown because we left too much time on the clock. Happens ALL the time in college FB. A minute is an eternity.

It's gotten to the point where I don't even need to look at screen names on this board. I can read the comment, and know exactly who typed it.

For the most part that is true but there has been a few posters soften over the course of the week with their criticism of Jones.

Why take a chance by throwing it too him? Hand the ball off to him and let him get a head of steam running towards the end zone.

Getting 9 yards on the ground is much less likely that catching a wide open pass and waltzing into the endzone especially since they were crowding the line with all 11 on the LOS.

I guess I haven't made my stance clear enough for Bruin so for my millionth post on the subject.....

RUN THE BALL!!

Does the concept of time management escape you? You realize incomplete passes stop the clock right?

There is no time management when you are behind and can take a 4 pt lead in a defensive football game. Thinking about giving up a TD to that offense in less than a minute is nothing but playing not to lose.

The biggest error we have made with QD is that we played vanilla and didn't run the score up early on cupcakes the last two years. QD has came in and handed the ball off and not gotten any real experience. Our refusal to run Dobbs and open up our offense against teams like North Texas and Ohio is the biggest reason that QD looks like a freshman today.
Yes. I also think we adjust too much depending on the opponent. Sure, make some adjustments, but play your game and dare them to stop you.

Not really serious, but it was funny to me. If we go 10-2 with losses to FL and Bama, and play Bama respectably, I'll be the first to praise the coaches. Butch isn't the only person that deserves blame for losing to FL. Execution is something that MUST improve. But why do we have drama every year with skill players being underutilized? Why do we match up well with every other team we face, athletically, but lay at least one egg every year.

Come out of the gate like someone spit on your grandmother's grave a month ago and you've been stewing on it for weeks.

Not to mention it was third down and short of the First. High risk/low reward.

At one point in the game, previous to one of the two times near the goal line, JK had over 100 yards on 7 touches and you’re telling me he couldn’t get 9 on two?

I can't believe that you all have talked about this coaching search subject so hard these past 4 days and NOT ONCE has anybody talked about tracking planes. Y'all are losing your touch.

Give it time. When/if Butch is let go, it's as certain as death and taxes.

For those of you proposing we should have worried about clock management let me get this straight....

You are worried about giving up a TD so bad that you are willing to give up a play to get Florida to call a TO which leaves you 2 plays to score a TD against a defesne that both this game and the year before stuff our ass on the goal line and btw stole the east by stuffing a physical running back at LSU???

You guys really think that TO was that important?

If so you guys aren't very football smart
