I have faith in Currie. When Butch is fired or he leaves, I believe that Currie will swing for the fences. He'll do everything he can to get a proven commodity in here imo. I don't think he'll settle. He wants to win.

Todd Furman (professional handicapper) on 104.5 just now places odds of Butch fired at 3:2 highest in SEC.

"We will see a minimum of 3 SEC coaches fired this year."

Kevin Sumlin distant second

Followed by Barry Odom and get this Ed Orgeron.

Story isn't going away. I get the fact that our fans (I'm pointing a finger right at myself here) are super sensitive and eat up everything good or bad UT. Driving clicks all over the Internet

KS is much more likely to be fired than Butch

Feldman on Finebaum gives list of coaches to be in demand at the end of the season.

Mullen was a given and not discussed

1. Justin Fuente

2. Jeff Brohm

3. Mike Gundy

4. Joe Moorehead

5. Brett Venebals

My guess is, Sumlin goes first. Then maybe Malzahn. Auburn moves swiftly and they'll want to get in on some of the big names. Odom is an alum and Pinkel disciple-- that buys him another year, IMO. O and Bielema probably get another year of purgatory, too. We just gave McElwain a grace period, and OM probably removes the interim tag from Luke. Gonna be turbulence in the SEC.

Much like Mullen with MSU, it is hard for me seeing Gundy leave OSU. So comfortable there and probably has had opportunities to bolt.

Why is it auburn will want to get in on big names and we won't? This is what confuses me about us.

I'll be happy with any of them. I'm surprised moorehead hasn't been mentioned more on here

I think he can work a deal elsewhere at 8-4 and that would be a win-win. You really have to factor his pride and other intangibles into this. Does he really want the humiliation of being fired or does he want to walk away with his head held high? This job hasn't gone the way he planned and it's been hard on him and his family. If he can work a creative deal with escalators that gets him in a respectable range, I think he takes it.

He brings skills to the table. He can rebuild a down program, recruit, run a clean program and win in a less competitive conference. He's a good guy. There are schools that will place a high value on that. They can flex-term his contract. His buyout dropped to $2 mil this year. UT could waive or defer some of that to smooth the deal. Done all the time.

While it's pretty clear that most Tennessee fans are done believing he can get it done, it kind of seems like he doesn't believe he can either deep down. I've heard a few people say this about him.
