DPJ did a good job with punts but can't run routes yet. Michigan fans were thrilled with the game. They were massively concerned with both sides of ball. They don't like Speight at all. My Dad's from Michigan and we have plenty of family.

Hey, maybe they're all wrong and you're right.

DJP was still the #1 WR and was one of the best athletes in general, insane dude. Of course they don't like Speight because like I said, he's decent and not great. Of course they're concerned, they lost basically every starter, u aren't gonna look amazing the first game lol.

So again, which is it, that Michigan struggled, or that Michigan took off the gas? You have completely changed your tune.

I can agree with that. Florida's pass defense looked ok against a subpar QB with 1 WR option but a solid TE.

Run the ball. Play action. No turnovers. Beat Florida by two scores and walk out.

No turnovers is key, IMO.

If we take care of the ball, we'll be in position to win, IMO. If not, I don't like our chances. I think UF's offense is garbage, but I don't think we'll be able to completely take them out of the game the way UM did.

And UF has a really good kicker. If we turn the ball over and give them good field position, I think they'll be able to get enough points and enough stops to beat us.

If we take care of the ball and win on special teams like we did against GT, I think we'll be fine. I don't see UF being able to sustain too many long drives.

Interesting.

So apparently they didn't run QB counter trey much last season and they ran it ~10 times Monday. I can see how the first few times might catch the defense by surprise, but I don't see why that's something the defense had so much trouble adapting to stop. A lot of spread option teams we play run counter trey. If their QB can run a little, they'll run the QB variant. Our offense made bank of counter trey and QB counter trey the past two years.

I'm still pretty skeptical of the "they ran a different offense than we expected" excuse. Pretty much every team runs a handful of plays each game they haven't put on film much or have been setting up in previous games for defenses. That's not the same as running a completely different defense than you were expecting.

I can certainly assure you that they weren't coached to watch out for a QB running 50 times. I honestly think we might have thought the white guy (jordan) was going to start. The one play he got in we tackled him at the line of scrimmage. He's super slow compared to Marshall. Usually, they're fairly balanced on carries. Marshall just played a hell of a game.

In shoops interview today he said they ran the triple option the first couple of possessions and then abandoned it. The thing is, Johnson is a technical coach and no one knows how to run or completely defend his offense. That's why the very rarely average less the 250 a game on the ground, yearly. 3 years ago they averaged almost 350 a game on the ground. If it's just simple why do they average that high of numbers?

We didn't play a clean game, but I also don't believe we are what the stats showed against the run. They run a gimmick system that is successful, the best triple option team in the country at that. They threw us some curve balls because Johnson saw we were stopping the triple option. They did some other things and a former receiver at QB ran all over us. We'll show people at Florida.

LWS in the ff trying to act like there is almost no way TN plays UF next week. Somebody must have really peed in his Wheaties cause he is just doom and gloom constantly now. I remember him saying how fantastic Marlin Lane looked on the practice field and to get ready cause he was the real deal. He flipped from sunshine pumper to negative Nancy

Meh. No game changing backs at all. All ok. Florida's defense looked slow and soft.

Half agree. UM has some good backs. Not world beaters, but they're all tough runners and they can keep all of them fresh by changing them up throughout the game.

I didn't think UF's defense looked tough, by any means, but they're athletic.

Agree.... and I think if we can get up quickly on them they will quit and it could be a blow out. But of course, that's if we get up quick, which I don't necessarily see happening.

This model showing the size compared to Andrew is unbelievable

How is him saying the weather will stop the game being negative?

How is that being negative? It could be the worst hurricane to ever hit Florida, if not the entire US. Less than a week later is the game. This is bigger and stronger than Andrew, Katrina, Ivan, etc

In tthe fifteen years or so that I've been reading his posts, I've never read anything that would make me think of him as a sunshine pumper. Going into last season saying we should win the east is about as positive as I can ever remember him being. After flopping down the stretch vs. S. Carolina and Vandy, I think he's determined to keep expectations low.

Read the whole thread. He's pretty determined. Even that the SEC wouldn't move the game to a different location.

That would then disqualify both of us from SEC title game chances because we don't share a bye week and our cupcakes the other has an SEC game.

Guess it's all a guessing game until we see what actually happens in the next few days.

Fantasy off to a great start. Watching Gilleslie rack up monster points on my bench since they like to play 5 RBs and I couldn't trust it

Michigan isn't a good offensive team yet. They still handled Florida and then took foot off gas when they got two score lead and realized Florida's offense would be the worst they see this year.

What's your point again?

Except they didn't take off the gas, they were still throwing deep with 10 minutes left. It was a 9 point game! UF players and coaches talked trash and you really think harbaugh takes off the gas in a 9 point game with a quarter left? That's laughable, and that's not harbaugh at all........

He took what Florida's defense gave him and nothing more. Every deep ball was play action where he had 10 seconds to throw.
