I will say this, based solely upon his demeanor that ESPN chose to show, and that is that JG perceived that he should be playing. That does not mean that Butch told him he would, but it is relatively clear that JG thought he should be in there. Now, most highly rated QBs believe that they are the best and that is the attitude you want in your QB, but I do suspect that something, someone said led him to believe that he was going to play. That may have been a misunderstanding on his part, but he perceived he was going to play.
Then even if it's just 1 series the conditions of the promise have been met and neither he nor any of us have any right to complain.
What is being missed is the effect on QD. He played flawlessly on the spring game and played well in the 2nd half Monday. Imo he deserves to be treated as a starter that doesn't have to look over his shoulders. He isn't being given that luxury.
No his actions Monday have very little to do with my opinion.
Not naming a Starter played games with both QBs imo. People want to look for reasons QD wasn't sharp early well it could have been nerves like many here have suggested or he could have been pressing knowing
JG was coming in any series like his coach had told the world. Plenty of reasons he should have named QD the starter and said it was his job until further notice. Still hasn't done that
When recruits have talked about what Butch has said to them, it is generally something like "Coach Jones said I could come in and earn the chance to play early". He could have easily said something like "I could see you being a 4 year starter". The key is always the "could". None of us know what was said, and honestly, I don't trust a teenager to remember the nuances of a conversation with a coach who is undoubtedly quite skilled in the use of qualifiers, weasel words, if you prefer. I will guarantee you that he says stuff like "we plan to", "we hope to", or "we want to" in most of these conversations, and kids tend to hear what they want to hear. Confirmation bias, and all that.
Glitch is an officer. His NCOs would have dealt with the Soldiers under him.
I have to babysit...er I mean develop young Soldiers all the time. I stress patience. Leadership and the accompanying benefits are something that's earned. When something like a promotion is promised, you lay the conditions out and frame the problem to include unforeseen circumstances. As far as something promised like days off or less work, you let them know the reality of the sitatuion and offer recompense. I think a fair recompense for JG is playing time against Indiana State. I'd tell him to ball out and show everyone why he should be the starter.
It was here after the game Monday night. Have at it if you want to find the post
