Context of what has been said and seen in public.
So seeing JG sitting by himself on the bench constitutes Butch lied to him?
I saw JG standing with a group of his teammates who were celebrating after the UT TD in the 1st OT, so that tells me he was not disconnected from the team.
And pretty much all that has "been said" was said by announcers, nega-journalists like Dave Hooker, and VN worry warts, so I am going to hold off on gnashing my teeth until I actually hear Butch of JG announcing he is transferring.
Those schools have QBs leave as well. It's the one position where I excuse a kid not having patience.
No his actions Monday have very little to do with my opinion.
Not naming a Starter played games with both QBs imo. People want to look for reasons QD wasn't sharp early well it could have been nerves like many here have suggested or he could have been pressing knowing
JG was coming in any series like his coach had told the world. Plenty of reasons he should have named QD the starter.

Glitch, you been around the military ling enough to know that no matter the situation, what was promised his reaction to it was wrong.
What would you do if you had a soldier that acted that way?
Regardless of what he was promised, not promised, what his emotions we're he had a role to fill. And he didn't do it.. period.
No, it's not life or death but it does show his maturity and ability to lead.
What's his reaction going to be when he starts to have a bad game? Is he gonna fold and throw in the towel and sulk or is he going to shrug it off and keep his head in the game? QD didn't do everything right but he did keep his composure no matter how bad it seemed to be at the time.
I understand being competitive but until he proves to the coaches that he is the man then he ain't the man.
Maybe the coaches have seen more of this behavior than us and refuse to hand over the leadership role to him until he can get past it?
I would hope that JG is intelligent enough to understand that if we had had not one, but two QBs going through first game jitters, not moving the ball, we would have lost the game probably 35-14.
Uh, no I didn't. He hasn't transferred has he? I don't think that he will either.
If he transfers a couple weeks into his RS Freshman year, then yeah he doesn't have what it takes to be the leader of an SEC championship team.
But he hasn't transferred. And I don't think that he will.
Again, this whole thing is being made out to be a bigger deal than it is. Not surprising you are clinging to this topic. Gotta stop beating the carcass of Bob Shoop just long enough to do your favorite thing which is speculation/conjecture of a worst case scenario.
Glitch is an officer. His NCOs would have dealt with the Soldiers under him.
I have to babysit...er I mean develop young Soldiers all the time. I stress patience. Leadership and the accompanying benefits are something that's earned. When something like a promotion is promised, you lay the conditions out and frame the problem to include unforeseen circumstances. As far as something promised like days off or less work, you let them know the reality of the sitatuion and offer recompense. I think a fair recompense for JG is playing time against Indiana State. I'd tell him to ball out and show everyone why he should be the starter.

All we have is the conjecture of the ESPN commentators, news media that love a juicy negative story, and the merciless beater of lifeless equine corpses (aka BruinVol) to go on .
And I agree.. if the score and the game allows it he should get playing time.
But there should never be guarantees made. There should always be a "what if" clause and it should be understood by JG. He gets playing time if these game conditions are met.
Oh I've had to manage plenty of hurt feelings over the years. In my NCO days I would hand them a hurt feelings report, tell them to fill it out, and then use it as TP the next time I needed to drop a duece. As an officer and particularly as the commander of a unit, it is not that simple or hilariously fun. I never promised any of my Soldiers any specific job or role because I know that plans last about 5 secs after the mission starts.
My point was that we have zero actual information on what Butch and Scott told JG. We have zero real information on how JG felt or feels about the lack of playing time on Monday. All we have is the conjecture of the ESPN commentators, news media that love a juicy negative story, and the merciless beater of lifeless equine corpses (aka BruinVol) to go on and IMO that is pointless and dangerous because it could find it's way into the locker room and poison the team. The less we speculate the better.
The best reason not is to mislead a kid making sure he doesn't bolt. Now we will see if he can manage that.
