I'm reserving judgement on Shoop. Let's see what our defense looks like by the time we hit our bye week in early October.

I can still explain away most of the bad performances either because of key injuries or because we played a goofy offense against GT. But we have the pieces to play well over the rest of this month so we will see.

Saw somewhere that a GT fan said their offense wasn't true triple-option last night. I'm not familiar with the system at all so I have no idea if that's true. But he said that there's a good chance they ran plays that UT likely didn't prepare for much at all in the offseason.

Most of what they ran were double options or designed QB runs. Don't know how that compares to what they usually run.

I am not sure what his resume looks like but being the DC for that team last year was a very bad spot set up for failure.

Either way it's possible that any kind of change could be a good thing if this thing doesn't get better quickly

Yep. That's been his MO for awhile. He goes out of his way to beat unpopular opinions into submission.

Would like to see an analysis on this. CFB is pathetically underserved when it comes to actual breakdowns of schemes after games.

Confused on what Mason has to do with this?

I think he has turned the corner and they have a solid team. Still will struggle to make a bowl game but I like the way his team played Saturday. If we played them this week I would pick Vandy.

I keep looking for info, so sorry if I've already missed it--- Is there any official status on Austin Smith? Assuming he and Sapp will be back this weekend?

I am not being an advocate for Hoke. I am just saying that anybody else would be a better option if this D gets shredded in the swamp. That will be enough for a change to be needed imo.

Call me crazy, but firing a guy and promoting someone who is worse doesn't seem like the best course of action.
