Calling out Jave....anyone who doesn't like Freaks and Geeks, This Is The End, Preacher, Undeclared, Knocked Up...either has zero comedic taste, has a redwood up their butt or cannot speak English. Either way I have zero time for them. Show me another comedic actor that writes, acts, directs and produces and makes millions.

I love Ramis but he was not above some real stinkers also. Also Rogen is what 35? Little early to make that comparison.

Brooks is also a comedic God. So that's two you are saying are "better" than Rogen. Pretty rarified company I might add.

And just for the record, I'm not a Rogen fan. I find his comedy more like sophomoric schtick than humor. However, I must admit I don't watch much of his stuff for the aforementioned reason.

Hey to each their own, only reason I moved it over here was jave comparing him to Stephen A Smith and basically calling the guy a no talent ass clown.

If you don't watch much you are missing out based on your own preconceived notions but again, you do you!

I'm with you on this one. Rogan is hilarious. Knocked up is one of my fave comedies from this era.

There probably is a cultural element to it. I wonder how many famous stand ups actually write their own stuff. There's gotta be an industry for jokewriters same as songwriters.

I have a hard time watching modern comedy. I did like the American Pie movies, Harold & Kumar, and Superbad. I loved the trash in the late 70s and 80s. Give me some drunken shenanigans and boobies and I'm set.

There have been some really good documentaries on stand up, most comics write their own stuff until they get big. Apatow wrote a lot of jokes when he realized he wasn't very good on stage. The Apatow film "Funny People" has a lot about stand up comedy and how it is approached.
