So here's a hypothetical for all the beer lovers:

You go to a party where you can't bring your own beer, but every beer there is free to drink. However, the only beer they have available is either cheap or mass produced beer. Everything from Natty ice to the banquet beer.

Without defaulting to the "I'll go without" type of answer, what do you drink? What kind of cheap beer do you go for if there's nothing else to drink?

Personally, info high life or Busch if I'm drinking cheap.

I prefer craft, but I'll drink almost any kind of beer for free. I would go with a high life, yuengling, or maybe coors banquet. Something with a bit more flavor to it.

Coors Light

I've had that one too. They are both at my local Food City grocery. They have what I call a "beer and wine cave" over on the back side of the store. Growler station too.

Normally pick mine up at the local Kroger. Can you find that oatmeal one you shared at Kroger?

One of the best out there right now:

"Bell's Two Hearted Ale". It's amazing. Try it.

Bell's also puts out the "Hop Slam", but it's hard to find. Scoop it up immediately if you ever come across it.

SweetWater is my "table" beer.... 420, IPA, Whiplash IPA, Squeeze Box IPA.... they are all good.

Going Coastal IPA is their pineapple. It's the nectar of the Gods.

Hop Slam is an annual release every February, so you will only find it then. I was going to ask Mock if he has tried it. Out of probably 500+ beers that I have tried, it is one of a few 5*'s for me. Simply fantastic. I still have a few in my fridge. For some of you beer nerds, you should follow the Beer thread in the Pub.

I love every beer you just mentioned, in case you can't tell I like hops :)

Bells Two Hearted is the perfect crossover for people who "don't like IPA's".

No doubt, Sweetwater Goin Coastal IPA w Pineapple is so damn good. I heard it's now year round instead of a summer seasonal like last year. Hard to beat a cooler full of Sweetwater 420 and IPA cans in the summer...

Have you had the coffee milk stout by Wiseacre? It is called Gotta Get Up to Get Down. It is the best coffee stout, IMO.

It's really solid but na, the best coffee stout out there-- at least that I've had-- is Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch Weasel.

It's ~11% abv and the coffee in it is Kopi luwak, the most expensive coffee in the world. The coffee is made in Vietnam by collecting coffee beans that have been eaten by wild Civets. My eyes misted a little when I drank it was so perfect.

You drank coffee that was pooped by civets..gross. I've read about that stuff.

I've had Hop Slam each of the last three years. It is an incredibly interesting and tasty IPA. It would push for my top 5 IPA list, but wouldn't be #1 most likely.

Have you ever had Cigar City's Hunahpu or Cafe Americano, Westbrook's Mexican Cake, or Bell's Black Note Stout? Not all have coffee in them but they are all stouts. Other than Bells, the others aren't distributed much outside their own state. All are close to, if not, 5 stars for me. They are all limited releases, but if you ever get a chance to get your hands on a bottle of any of them, jump on it.
