Ron Swanson just said that no one has ever died from MJ use. (Not true, being stoned on MJ slows your reaction time and judgement therefore driving is unsafe...)

Americans somehow have much higher addiction rates than the rest of the world...whether it's food, tobacco, alcohol, caffeine or whatever. You name it and Americans can become addicted to it.

It's really quite scary when you consider all the issues associated with the American addictive personality.

You really didn't answer my questions. Should we be a nanny style country? Do you need the government telling you everything you shouldn't do?

Next they'll ban certain foods, which is something we are already seeing in other countries. Are you ok with that?

Some states have already started. There is a big difference between keeping certain narcotics illegal and soft drinks.

Things like this are probably less likely to happen if it's legalized and regulated though.

No legitimate pot shop wants to sell fungus product.

Not true.
People take shortcuts to increase their profit margin.
Happens with pharmaceuticals .
Happens with food products.
It would happen with MJ too.

Not a reason to keep it illegal. Just saying that it won't be any different.

I'm about as anti-government as reasonably possible. However, with freedom comes responsibility. It's the responsibility part of the equation that becomes the problem, particularly with the use of hard drugs.

As a healthcare professional, the government has me so regulated...way more than they regulate anything else. It's already there, you don't realize it.

Last time I will say this. I am not against pot being legalized. I just think that many statements here have been naive and ill informed.

I don't disagree with this. But the end result just is that about the same people die from smoking bad weed as did from eating bad Chipotle.

AND that whatever shoot kills someone form bad week probably ends up going out of business (if it's a small business) or taking a huge hit in profit marginins (if it's a large business spanning many states).

Great article. If the Doc that studies it won't use it that tells you something.

Look at the Colorado population using marijuana for pain, Dr. ElSohly says. “It’s mostly youth—people who should be pain free.” It takes him about a minute to stand up—he’s wincing again. “I have back pain right now, but I’m not about to smoke marijuana for it. You know what I’m saying?”

Are we talking about catbone? Because he's the only one with nine lives. :)

Since you have been such a chatty cathy and told everyone their reasoning is naive, what is your reason behind legalization?

Or just suck it up. You have to admit that we are a severely medicated society. There seems to be a pill for everything. Then you have to take a pill for what the first pill causes. We take way too much medication.

Big pharm rules the world especially the doctors and hospitals. Ain't that right VolDoc?

I've never seen so much agreement that persists in argument before. Lol.

"I agree with what you are saying but your reasons for coming to that conclusion are wrong."

Only on VN can we agree and disagree at the same time. I love you morans.

Listen I've softened my stance on MJ. I used to be adamant against it. There are benefits from cannabis oil. As you stated with your monkey poo story, there are dangers in everything. The story I told was the personal experience that I witnessed. It was horrible. 19 year olds shouldn't be on a vent and coded multiple times because of something that was completely avoidable. It is something I will remember forever. His mother screaming for us to continue chest compressions and his brother having to be restrained by security when we told them there was nothing left we could do are images burned in my brain. I know this is very rare though.

Heavy stuff, man. Respect. Truly.

I think the ultimate solution to the issue is one that we are seeing play out. Remove the federal government from the equation and let the stares decide how they will handle the legalities and sentencing. If state X wants to legalize it all then so be it. If state Y wants to prohibit everything including tobacco and alcohol then so be it. Then in 30 to 50 years when most of us will be dead or so old we won't care we can see which states strategy worked and which ones failed.

Heck, I think we should just abolish the states and create 13 districts each with their own speciality like timber, power, grain, etc. Then, we can select a certain number of people from each district and have them perform a task to see which is more healthy.

The Constitution clearly spells oit what the Federal Government is responsible for. Defense, international treaties, and interstate commerce (ie transportation). That is about it. Everything else was reserved for the states under the 10th Amendment. Education, healthcare (Medicare/Medicaid), social security, and all of the low income programs like welfare and food stamps are all examples of the Federal Government over reaching its charter. The states can do a much more efficient job of handling thise issues within their own borders. Not all the states have the same problems so the one size fits all approach that Washington employs is wasteful and ultimately doesn't fix anything. Let each state decide how to run education and Carr for their poor. Tennessee doesn't have the same issues as New York or Wyoming. It won't be fixed anytime soon, but it is one of my hot button issues.

You should try teaching... You'd be crying for medical regulation after a day

Don't forget about the "voluntary" killing

Just to make sure, my post you responded to was fully out of jest. It was a reference :hi:
