Makes sense. Hope he wins this year then and retires the next day. Dabo takes over the day after that.
Saban isn't wanting to retire anytime soon. He's made it very clear he wants to keep coaching at Bama as long as his health permits and he's having success at it. The potential successors could be quite different 5 to 7 years from now.

[QUOTE="secking, post: 16091638, member: 31503"Your thoughts on Webb?[/QUOTE]

Are you referencing Clay Webb? If so who knows but it seems apparent he wants to leave the state. We have to OL spots left and Neal I hope is one and would rather have Wright over Webb.

Maybe but it’s not like he’s going to announce that he is planning to retire soon. That would hurt big time in recruiting.

As long as Saban leaves with us on top it will not matter to me. I just do not want to see him leave to late like I have seen other great programs that held on to their beloved coach a few seasons to many and did not recover quickly.

With today’s news, I’d be surprised if Wright wasn’t a top target for N.C., Mack Brown is known as a great recruiter and Wright has been to N.C. more than any other school. Still think Tn but N.C. could make this interesting.

Apparently Mack is targeting Kingsbury as OC and Chizik will be DC.

Said it in another thread, the OC Mack has been pushing with big hitters in the Rams Club is Kevin Wilson. Chiz is a done deal barring any snags.

Wilson is a good X and O guy but easy to negatively recruit against.

In all honestly, I believe it will be pretty easy to negative recruit against the entire set up UNC is going with. They can say Mack will not be there long out of the gates, etc.

Will certainly need some mercenary recruiting types to make it work. N. Carolina is already a state a lot of teams are hitting.

Good point, but the first thing out of my mouth against Wilson is “I’m not letting some coach hitting my son”

Is Neal an EE? Both he and Wright are doing OV to Ga I think the same weekend.

Was this a subtweet @ UT? You think you're slick? Jokes aside, do you think that was the case with UT and Fulmer. I am in the camp that would say we let go of Fulmer too early, but his recruiting class prior to the year he was fired - Gerald Williams not Tajh Boyd - was the worst I can recall. Curious of what an outsider would say about how UT handled that situation.

More so Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno. With Fulmer I think the problem is lack of wanting to change and adapt to what was happening around the conference. In 2005 it not only sparked I believe his 1st losing season but what 17 or 18 years straight going to a bowl game, and Meyer arrived at UF, Spurrier arrived at USC, and Miles arrived at LSU. The landscape was changing but I think Fulmer earned the right to stay and get a chance to adapt. Just he did not and then Saban came back who already won a title while at LSU to your worst rival. So in 2005 Fulmer lost to all 3 of UTs rivals(UA, UF, UGA) and to 1st year HC and very disliked Spurrier at USC did not sit right. The next 3 years saw SEC teams win the NC and UA come close if not for Tebow. Those were rough years for him especially considering the history of the program and the expectations of the fan base.

I think UT from administration stand point held on as long as they could but your fans & boosters had expectations of being contenders every year(rightfully so) and all of sudden the landscape changed. In the end it seems some of the boosters instead of supporting Fulmer (a proven HC) decided they needed to look elsewhere to keep up with the neighbors. It seems in the end whatever plan they had going forward was not very well thought out.

Yes Neal is an EE and he was already committed to UA at one time and thinks he follows his team mate Sanders to UA in December. They both as it has been reported were doing a lot of recruiting on their OV this past weekend to UA. Why I was sad Wright did not visit. Not that he would have committed but maybe give us a 20% chance at him

I'm guessing a fan that talks down coaches that leaves and praises coaches who are currently still with the team. Probably no different than any other fan. Sherrer, Rocker, and Friend were highly thought of in coaching and recruiting circles.
Check Nationdom’s post history and you’ll understand why we think the way we think. Also, this is the first time to my knowledge that he’s ever tried to ride the “insider” train. He’s one of the biggest trolls this site has ever seen.

I can understand why Kirby would not want Pruitt. Pruitt is the better coach at least on Defense and Kirby feels threatened by him. My understanding the reason he left for FSU besides the move up to DC is because of Kirby. Pruitt is a players coach and plays way to loose for Kirby. Kirby has a tendency to tighten up and one of the reason I was very happy for the trade-off for Pruitt as our DC when Kirby left for UGA. There are many coaches who could step in and do what Kirby has done with that roster and the instate recruits who have mainly went to UGA forever. But in the end I think Pruitt will be the better HC and personally would rather have Pruitt when Saban retires then Dabo. Yes some UA fans do not agree because Pruitt is not seasoned yet but give him time.
For once...I hope you are right.

Since Sherrer left Georgia, the linebackers have sucked this year. Reject huh? Mullen wanted Rumph to stay, but turned him down.

Nationdome? Known as Uncle Lou, how do you get all of this time off? Man, I don’t see how you do it, with your son and wife. Where is all of the family time at?

Looks like Purdue is calling a team meeting at 11 guess theyre saying goodbye to Head Coach Jeff Brohm! Good pick up for the Cards.
