Before we make total and absolute assumptions about a female sports writer accusing sexism because she has a bad take on bball.. It looks like someone said something about assaulting her. The whole 'calling the cops' and following subpoena reaction is eye-rolly, but responding to someone in the heat of the moment often yields knee-jerk results.

The guy who tweeted the 'rape threat' apparently felt bad enough to delete it, so I'd side with her right to be pissed off about it. And then whoever Smokey Vol (#1) is basically doubled down on it with the 'I'm sure you'd enjoy it' response. That's pretty f***ed up and we shouldn't be defending those people, no matter how wholeheartedly we believe Duke should remain #2 in the rankings.

Bad takes on sports happen all the time, by literally everyone. No one should face rape comments because of them.

Sorry for sounding like a preachy libtard, but seriously. Don't tweet something you wouldn't want hung on a sign around your neck as you stroll through the grocery store. It's not that hard.
nah he didnt delete it. Twitter did. he said something like "I want to bruise your throat" which I took as choke but not rape. Is it wrong to post that? Sure. But when she called it rape is when folks rained down on her and she used every victim card she has in her pocket after that.

The initial issue started when someone commented their disagreement with the SOS ranking and she took it to a new level then Voltwitter did and then she did, etc. etc.

The only thing I saw (Before deletion) was someone saying that she needed to have her throat punched. (which was crude).

But calling it out for being wrong is too dramatic? Social media only goes one way?
If she wanted to win my vote in the court of public opinion, leaving off "hope Vol fans are proud" and "ignorant hill people", certainly would have gone further.

Only certain stereotyping and group broadbrushing wrong?

If you think this comment somehow shames me from asking the question. You’re sadly mistaken.

You put quotes around "threat", which I (sadly?) mistook for incredulousness, like you didn't believe a tweet that was deleted/removed that provoked that reaction from her. Not to mention the subsequent tweet saying she'd enjoy it, which took it to an even deeply messed up level.

Not saying millennials can't be tone deaf too. Don't draw a line in the sand there.

That was a recruiting account, intended for the millennial/Gen-z generation, that's all I meant by saying millennials value authenticity.

I was just pulling your leg. I have no idea who did the graphic. But I do believe your statement that millennials value authenticity is about as much of an inaccurate generalization as the rest of the whole generational divides and titles stuff. No doubt many value it; no doubt many don't. No doubt many in other generations value it; no doubt many in other generations don't.

Millennials and social media go hand in hand. Social media is about as fake of a medium for socializing as there is. Just one example.

I saw the tweet, that’s why I asked. You went on a rant before you even knew what was really said. Before going on a long unnecessary rant, maybe know what’s going on first..

Still doesn't address or absolve the Smokey Vol (#1) the 'I'm sure you'd enjoy it' response.. which was still up when I nabbed the screencap right before I posted.

"Ignorant hill people" is yeah, kinda offensive, sure. But nowhere equivalent to even the most casual of rape threats.

Apparently it was too long for you to read, or you already had your mind made up. There was another tweet that hadn't been deleted saying she would enjoy being assaulted.

But keep defending the trolls, bro. You do you.

I’ve had some horrible threats sent to me on reddit and tweeted at me a couple times because I made the mistake of posting political opinions online. You know what I did? Closed the tab on my computer and got over it.
I did not really want to further this but I have to now. Those things that you mentioned are why some people kill others and some of them kill themselves. Nation is divided more than ever. I wish people would grow up and follow thier heart and not what friends or even family sometimes push on them as to how to feel about a person's color or religion or just opinions. Imo

I read it all before anything was deleted. Again, with the assumptions? It’s a bad look man.

Generalizing any generation is going to lead to broad inaccuracies on some level.

Millennials and social media do go hand in hand-- see: snapchat and instagram.

But oldheads have taken over FB and are almost just as prevalent on Twitter.

I think millenials valuing authenticity holds water because they're the generation that can't escape ads. They're the generation that hasn't seen the ROI re: college.

And 'holds water' doesn't mean 'is 100% true'. All generational talk is purely anecdotal anyway.

There is literally a Vols fan responding to her that she would enjoy being raped. I'm sorry for defending her outrage. I'm sorry if that's controversial. I'm sorry for not blindly siding with Vols fans on the internet.

I'm getting out of work in 20 minutes and I need to wrap things up. I'm out.

he didnt say that. stop putting your words in his tweet. so no it was not "literally" said

the assault accusation is meh but I'll give that to her. I also had a tweet reported and required to be deleted when it was just a gif. so it being deleted doesnt mean much.

Who is defending that? What I saw was "throat bruise" or something like that, which was crude and deleted. She said something about getting DM's.

But aren't ads also very much fake? I mean, we're supposed to believe we should buy Papa Johns pizza just because Peyton Manning pushes it. Ads are just a sales job (duh), and to me most sales jobs are inauthentic.

shes been blocking people that simply asked her to prove she was threatened with rape. FWIW.

Third tweet, y'all. Taking a typo and turning it around to say, (pardon the previous misquotes because this is sooo much better) "..implying you'd enjoy it. Which I'm sure you would"

Y'all, seriously, I know some of y'all are backwards af, but let's quit demonizing her for flipping out on someone who would tweet things like this. What's wrong with you.
