But we already have both innocent people locked up and guilty ones walking around. The justice system is screwed upthat 8% is a really high actual number if you think about it and justifiably creates pause for the others. Its unfortunate.
It would add a color to my rainbow if all accusations were genuine but that's not the case. Because of 8%, we have to vet every single one to make sure it's not one of the 8%.
I'd rather let a guilty man walk before putting an innocent man in prison, an ideal called Blackstones ratio and used to be a liberal ideal. Ben Franklin echoed the actual line with "it is better 100 guilty persons escape than one innocent person suffer".
It has flipped in the realm of rape for some reason.
Same.@SweetasSoda likes all my posts, #blessed. Therefore I pick her in this name battle.
Has a lot to do with "thinking with your heart instead of your head" society we live in now. Lawyers play to the heart of the matter issues of the black and white of the facts at hand. But we already have both innocent people locked up and guilty ones walking around. The justice system is screwed up
As a husband and a father to a young daughter, I share your concern but believing every women without even questioning the merit of the accusation is very dangerous territory.Well, sure. I'm just more concerned that statistically, more than one women or girl that I know and love will be raped or assaulted and there's a high probability nothing will be done about it.
Look, no one "wins" this discussion. Its depressing as hell. I'm gonna leave it alone.
We do and we should strive to be better. DNA advancements have made that possible and I would argue our justice system and peers did a crappy job at asking questions, collecting evidence and understanding the term "Beyond reasonable doubt" when an innocent person is convictedBut we already have both innocent people locked up and guilty ones walking around. You aren’t wrong. That’s why it’s best to look at both sides and say “yup you’re both idiots”Definitely stand by what I said earlier.
If she had said "ignorant (whatever oppressed group") SOME of the same posters would be ripping her to shreds.
But stereotyping is ok if it involves a group that usually represents the "other side".
Why I loathe politics. Some of you can be drowning in your own hypocrisy and still not see it.
I guess I could have worded it better. I wasn’t saying innocent until proven guilty isn’t needed in court, It definitely is. Just making a general observationWe do and we should strive to be better.
