and the Bible is still distorted by man for their gain. People look to clergy as infallible. The older I've gotten, I have placed a greater emphasis on relationship more so than religion or denomination. No one can choose what religion they are raised.

I remember when I was surprised to read that Gandhi loved Christ but not Christianity. In his world at the time, apartheid South Africa, he didn’t think the Christians were anything like Christ. In choosing his native religion of Hinduism he said the same things he found in the Christian scriptures he found in the Hindu scriptures so he figured if he could be a good Hindu he’d also be a good Christian. Gandhi thought that the beauty of Christ was his heart and he wanted to be like him. He didn’t think many of the people he was associated with at the time had any interest in adopting the heart of Christ. They were more given to rules, rituals, traditions, and their own selfish pursuits, things he thought were anathema to the teachings of Jesus. I thought it was an interesting perspective from such a towering historical personality.

There’s no doubt that sinful people have twisted the scriptures for personal gain. That is true. That does not mean that the truth is lost however.

If you take out the creeds and confessions Christianity has attached to Christ’s actual words - and just look at the stuff he was SAYING ... it’s pretty mind blowing stuff.
And, interestingly, shares a LOT of similarities with what the Buddha was teaching 400 years earlier.

If you get past the small stuff and look at the notion of reconnecting/becoming one with God/the universal consciousness, Christ and Buddha seem to have been telling us - hey guys, you can do this too!

I have a lot of deeper thoughts on this, but realize it would lead us a little astray from Tennessee Football Recruiting 😃

One of my favorites:

Why do you have to take two Baptists with you when you go fishing?
Holy moly post from 247

That's interesting. He basically wanted to be like Christ with his own ability which is the opposite of what the Bible teaches but what most people who say they are Christians also try to do and fail miserably at which turns others off from Christianity the way it did him.

Except Christ said you need me to do it because you've proven you can't keep the law.

Hindu and Christian scripture have a ton of overlap. Hindu scripture is absolutely beautiful.

Personally I think each of us has our own path to God. There is no right answer so long as you find him and a lot of it is just based on where you are born and what you’re exposed to. Looking down upon and judging others for how they worship is the opposite of what God asks us to do.

I know this sounds good in modern culture, but it just isn't true. Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me" John 14:6. He also said, "Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because He has not believed in the name of the only Son of God" John 3:18. Jesus denies that there are multiple paths. He says time and time again, that there is one way. There are so many other verses I can quote that say the same thing. You may not believe that, and that's your preogative, but if you are right and there are multiple ways to God, then Jesus was a liar. If He is a liar, then He's not the Savior. That then, at the least, eliminates Christianity from even being a path to God. It really is that simple. If Jesus is not the only way, then He wasn't a good teacher, He was a liar, and thus He is not the Messiah and we should be looking for another.

So I reject that there is no right answer, and I stand with Christ who claimed Himself to be the only way and proved it by His resurrection from the dead. It is so tempting to go along with our culture and just say just be spiritual or just seek the Lord, but Christ didn't say that, and thus neither can I. And since these are the words of Christ that I quoted, He absolutely would condemn false teaching that says there are other ways. In fact, He did it Himself: "Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves" Matthew 7:15. So, it is a twisting of Scripture to say that we are not to judge those who worship false Gods. Paul went to the Areopagus and proclaimed the gospel to the Athenian philosophers. He called the heretics in Colossae heretics and warned the church from listening to them. He said that the heretics bringing a different religion to the Galatians were cursed, condemned to hell, because of their false teaching. So it just isn't true to say God doesn't want us to expose false religion. That is anti-biblical and anti-Christ.

Maybe you're wrong? I mean, it was just a book written by humans 2000 year ago. It's cool to have faith and beliefs and follow a path but NO ONE KNOWS THE TRUTH. Stop pretending your book and your beliefs ARE THE ONLY TRUTH. It's ridiculous.
