Seems like the major factor for people needing organized religion is raising their kids as it gives them a value system and what they see as a good influence. I say if that works for you more power to you I have no kids, have never felt the need to have any since everyone else does. My dogs don't really feel the need to go to church so there is no pull there. My life seems pretty ok to me and I try to live by the Golden rule as much as I can. Bottom line is that everybody finds peace and a reason for being in their own way, don't preach to me and I'll return the favor.
Fair.
I think one thing that's always bothered me (not directed at you Newt, but your "bottom line" made me think of this). With how things are today with so much communication dumped into Social Media, too many people seem to think that everything is about or directed at them. I see so many facebook arguments start because someone makes a post to start a discussion. Then the people who are choosing to comment to that post, and choosing to be involved in that discussion so often turn it around with the "well why are you shoving your beliefs down my throat?!?!"
I guess to me if I don't support your politic opinion or religious/non-religious beliefs I typically don't engaged in commenting on or responding to your social media "prompts" on those topics, find it weird more people don't adopt that.
