I've been going to the gym this week. They screen you, spray down your hands with disinfectant and take your temperature before you go in. Then you wipe everything down before and after you use it. It is a great system and I do not wear a mask when I work out because it just seems like overkill. My wife does and that's fine. If you want to wear a mask, wear one. If you don't, don't. If you don't, have some distance awareness and everybody will be fine.

So I guess people who die from having severe underlying medical conditions are really Covid deaths? It’s a very comparable situation, and you guys pick the side that helps your argument.

I guess Akron had to disband baseball 5 years ago because they knew this was coming.
People die, and are gonna keep on dying long after this stupid virus is gone, or should I say..till it is no longer a "thing"...

It is you guys want to make this a chinese water torture experience for everybody..."FEAR FEAR FEAR FEAR FEAR FEAR FEAR ..or you arecall gonna DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE!!!"

Can you really not understand why or how this is driving a lot of us up the freaking wall?

Your response has nothing to do with the topic I discussed. I was just pointing out the inconsistencies in the arguments some of you are making. Akron athletics had a financial problem well before this pandemic. Yet people just read tweets that say the pandemic forced them to get rid of 3 sports instead of actually digging deeper into why it happened.

This topic has nothing to do with wearing a mask or walking in fear. If you guys want to say an elderly person in a nursing home was going to die anyway, then the same conclusion would lead to Akron probably not being well financially and probably making cuts at some point anyway. But we have folks in here who aren’t consistent and take whichever side that helps THEIR opinion.

I wear a mask at work so save your effin breath...but I am not a fear zombie like you..

So...in your mind you are a better person because you think you care sooo much about others since you bow at the altar of ever changing opinions from the health care gods?...welp..you better never take that stupid thing off now or get behind the wheel of your car ever for that matter, or you are a massive hypocrite.

I love you, but this opinion is wrong...you are not any better person, or care any more about others than Bass...so climb down from your pedestal.

I hope this doesn't make you hate me.

For the record I have a horrible phobia about having anything covering my face..it literally makes me go into a panic attack if I keep one on for more than a few minutes at a time...so I take it on and off and on and off all day long...I would think a lot of people have that problem...it is suffocating.

LOL. I'm the fear zombie. I'll say it again, it's not about you or I it's about the vulnerable around you. Like I said, there are 3 reasons not to wear a mask:

1. You don't think it's effective at reducing the spread.
2. You don't care about reducing the spread.
3. You are trying to make some rebellious statement "I don't have to wear no stinkin' mask so I ain't gonna! You can't make me!"

Where do you fall?

I've never said I was better than anyone. I staunchly believe that it is not my place to judge anyone, that's the big guys job.

I don't hate you or bass, I just think if you really step back and look at it, it's very small price to pay to limit exposure to those that might not fair as well.

Bass said it brilliantly when I asked WWJD?

He said he sacrificed himself for others. He died for others. He made the ultimate sacrifice. Yet here we are, debating whether wearing a mask is too much of a sacrifice to maybe help lessen the spread of this virus and possibly save someone's life that could possibly die if they contract it. I know how I feel.

What if you have been tested and are in a clean environment where you can distance yourself? The mask helps prevent you spreading it not contracting it. If you know for a fact you do not have it, what good does the mask do?

So we should just ignore Birx and others saying things like this:

But yes, lets continue to believe the narrative that we have undercounted the actual deaths. Its pure fiction

I am with you Bass. When public officials admit that they are counting deaths like that then how can you take anything they say seriously. If someone dies in a car crash then they died from the car crash, not COVID. There have been roughly 86,000 deaths reported as COVID. Every state is counting like the above video, so I would venture to guess that roughly 50% of those deaths did not have COVID as the actual COD. There have been 1.4 million confirmed cases and again, I would venture that the number of people that have had it and were so asymptomatic that they never bothered to get tested is probably double that. So 43,000 deaths out of 2.8 million cases. Yeah, let's get back to work and stop the games.

Exactly this.

I’m guessing that’s the University. The athletic department in 2017 got $24 million to support their budget from a university stipend from non athletic sources.
The athletic department needs more.......

Cut some of the University research grants....

edit: I admit that I don't know all the details. It's just sad for those kids to lose their scholarships and programs.

If that's the case that's fine. Problem is you can be tested one day and be clear, get exposed the next day. Become contagious the next day and not show symptoms.

People can do what they please. That's fine by me but it just seems like such a small sacrifice to me to help prevent the spread. To label me a "fear zombie" because I think it's the right thing to do is laughable.

That wasn't me, that was that hick from Hazard Co

I agree with you that it is. UT bailed out our athletics department several years back, but it was a one time deal. Education and athletics go hand in hand and can support each other, but the university isn’t going to keep bailing it out. The Akron athletics department isn’t self sufficient, and it appears the state has to contribute. It stinks, but they have to pull some weight.

I have seen this before, the people that dont think they can get it will get it from being bullheaded and think They are above it. Its messes up all around. But if our leader does not lead by example, then imagine all the people that will follow his lead. I personally trust doctors and scientists over businessmen.

If you think doctors and scientists don't have agendas...

Yeah, they have been consistent as hell.

So...you gonna wear that cross around every day for the rest of your life?

How about driving...I mean you must not care about others if you get behind the wheel...

I for one don't believe anything the idiots say now, so no I don't want to be forced to wear the dumb thing every where I go if I don't choose to...it is a massive irritation and inconvenience to me. It feels like I am suffocating every second I wear one...

I have to for work, if I want to work...so I wear one at work.

All this crap is getting on my last freakin nerve..
