Well you may as well not vote. No independent candidate has a chance. You are actually casting a vote towards the dems when you do that. I understand your frustration with Trump. I share it. But if the dems get in again, it will take decades to recover.
I have had multiple people tell me that. Haha. And I know that's a stance a lot of people take. And I can understand feeling that way, for sure. And have felt that way in the past myself. But now I personally disagree with that line of thought. And I know there are others who disagree with it, too.
It's my vote. And I only have one (since I don't live in Chicago. Haha) to cast as my voice in how I want the nation to go, ya know?
And so Speaking for myself, I am not voting AGAINST someone and their platform. I'm voting FOR someone and what they stand for.
And I feel like I will have given my approval and support to whomever I cast my vote for, and given my approval to their beliefs and stances. And I just don't trust that Trump will govern, appoint judges, behave, and uphold constitutional and moral principles in a way that I would condone.
Especially with the supreme court appointees. So I think it would bother me and my conscience if I vote for him. And if he appoints pro-choice judges, which I personally feel pretty confident he would based on his history and even on recent statements, would my hands not be tainted with some of that innocent blood if i would have voted for him? There are people that don't see it that way, of course. But I think I would feel that way. So I don't want to risk it for myself.
Also it's not just abortion/religious stuff. It's health care, eminent domain, taxes. I don't think Trump is a true conservative on a lot of issues. Even on his keynote issue of immigration: His current stance is a flip flop from just four years ago. How and why would voters trust him and what he says now?
I know some would say "well he's better than the alternative"...well, one, maybe so, but I'm personally not 100% convinced that that is true with Trump. And two, as I said, I am choosing to cast my vote FOR someone, not against.
And please please please don't think my tone or anything is bad or mean or unchristian in stating any of this. That's a downfall of digital communication, and one reason why I usually don't like to make political posts on something like Facebook. I don't want to offend anyone or cause harm to the cause of Christ. I hope I haven't done that. And I don't think I have in posting this. Just posting some of my thoughts on this.
But anyway, wherever you fall on the 3rd party or not.....we actually have a good choice right now, with the primary. So let's nominate someone who we can all vote for. I love Cruz personally. But I could vote for Rubio too, with his strong stance on pro-life.
