Exhibit A Your Honor: The fine city of Chicago, Illinois. The toughest laws in the country keeping firearms out of the hands of its law abiding citizens. How’s that worked? Would any one of you walk freely there and not be scared?

LOL yes I would feel perfectly safe in Chicago without a gun. You’re making my original point for me tho - that those who carry guns everywhere are scared.

If you make common sense decisions and take common sense precautions (don’t go to the neighborhoods where crime is most prevalent, don’t walk around alone at 3 am down dark alleys, etc) you’re gonna be just fine, bud.

Haha you’re acting like everyone who visits Chicago gets shot.

You posted statistics of getting shot nationwide which is relative to other bad things that could happen. Now, take the stats for Chicago specific and it’s a totally different story. Anyone who would walk around Chicago and not be a little scared has no commen sense. That place is a complete cesspool and you’d be crazy not to have protection there.

Yep we can all be thankful that the lunatics that would be willing to shoot somebody created a calendar and map so the rest of us know exactly when and where they will be when they commit crimes. And even though they don't care about following laws they surprisingly follow their calendar and map religiously 🙄

I carry in Gray, TN. I'm not afraid in Gray, TN with or without a gun.

The point about Chicago is that gun control laws frequently don't have the desired result. When you take guns out of the hands of decent law abiding people, then only the thugs have them. It's really not complicated. A well-armed society is a polite society.

It's an interesting point that in England it's much more common for your home to robbed while you are home, whereas in the US, robbers try to avoid you. It's really unrelated to concealed carry, but it strongly suggests that armed citizens are a deterrent. That's true whether in the home or out.

The only true thing I've learned about this discussion is that if *you* ever carried, it would be because *you* are afraid. Your biases and motives have zero to do with me or anyone else who carries.

I wonder how things would have turned out if these two would have been carrying on that faithful night?

There’s a book I read years ago called The Gift of Fear that I found interesting. It discusses how the natural emotion of fear is a weapon of prevention but that it’s overuse creates a numbing effect that blocks its effects. There’s a difference between running around scared and being mindful of a potentially dangerous situation. Also remember that Our Savior told his disciples to sell their garments to purchase a sword. I think this subject is more about wisdom than running scared.

Funny. I was just getting ready to mention that fear and awareness are not the same thing.

The dude I responded to literally said he was a little afraid bc it’s Chicago but preach it brother

My brother went to a Cubs game probably 8-10 years ago and parked near Wrigley Field. Came back after the game and his car had been broken into. The cops weren't even going to come out until he told them his gun had been taken out of the car. It has only gotten worse. I wouldn't go anywhere in Chicago at night unarmed. Anywhere.

Haha idk why it’s a big deal to point out you said you were scared of Chicago?
You’re obtuse. First, I live with very little fear, it’s not who I am. But awareness of a dangerous situation is another and if someone isn’t a little scared in Chicago (or closer to home parts of Memphis) they are just oblivious to fact, which you must be. Also, I’d counter your take is pretty heartless to the people who live in these war zones that you could just trivialize what they have to deal with in their day to day. But I guess it makes sense that some people look at life that way because it’s the only thing that explains how some people can make such boneheaded, ignorant policy decisions.

Ignorance & lack of education is real plight in this World nowadays. Forget political strife. Let's fix that first.

John Adam’s said our form of government would only be successful with an educated and moral citizen. Safe to say they go together.

Edit: 2nd president and founding father, not Knoxville media hack lololololol
