No need for guns. . . the world is safe.

A close friend of mine got a knock on his door at 11p one night. He walked from his room, down the hallway, and to the front door. He turned the deadbolt to unlock the door. The burglars heard the lock and shot, point blank, through the door with a shotgun, into my friend's chest.

He died instantly.

The burglars entered. Seconds later, they shot his father's fiance, who was sleeping in a recliner in the living room.

She died moments later.

His dad heard the attack from his bedroom. He grabbed his 9mm from beside his bed and moved to the door. Quickly peering down the hallway from his bedroom door, he saw 2 burglars coming toward him. He fired several shots, killing one burglar on the spot and wounding the other in the hip.

Hours later, the 2nd burglar was apprehended as he attempted to visit Blount Memorial emergency room, complaining of an injury from an earlier car accident.

The murderers had followed his dad home, after seeing him pick up a prescription at Walgreens. They waited until night and attempted the robbery. They had previously known my friend's family and knew the father was a disabled veteran, receiving pain meds.

This happened in Seymour/South Knoxville, only a few years ago.
Sorry about your friend. So senseless . . .

I feel sorry for anyone who ever breaks into my house. They better pray it’s my pit bull that gets them first and not me so they actually have a chance. Can’t take any chances with kids.
I am not a handgun person. I do own a shotgun but I have your same philosophy. If you are in my house, uninvited, you are intending to harm me or my family. There will be no warning shots, no pointing and threatening. I will be shooting to kill you.

Huh? I’m just saying if there were no guns, people would still kill each other, just in different ways
It would be harder, but, yes, I agree. The convenience of shooting a gun makes it more likely people are willing to take that step, especially if they are not having to get close enough to do it another way.

^^ Definition on how not to interpret data and statistics. Wow dude, ignorant post.

And bravo to you for all the data and statistics and the interpretation of said data and statistics that you brought to the conversation to refute my analysis.

People cant mind their own business. They think if they dont want something then you should not want it. These anti gun people are the ones when somebody breaks into their homes will help the burglars load their things up and give them their debit card.

Firearms in your home is one thing. Being so scared of the world that you take one with you to the grocery store “just in case” is, what’s that term that so many on here like to use....ah yes....beta.

Some things don’t need an explanation. You seem to be the odd one out on my comment.

Do you honestly think taking firearms away would keep them away from criminals? If someone has a plan to kill you they’re going to do it with a butter knife. Since you are so hung up on stats look up how the murder rates are doing in countries with stricter firearm laws. Guns aren’t the issue, bad people are.

What are you talking about? I never said anything about taking firearms away from anyone. I said if you feel the need to carry a firearm every time you leave your house then you’re a scared little b.

And saying it’s to be prepared is only an excuse that’s been made up bc that same person carrying a firearm isn’t carrying around a parachute in case they fall. Or a pillow to throw down if someone else is falling. And accidental falls kill roughly the same amount of people each year as guns.

Exactly..I am a shotgun guy too. I don't wanna worry about precision at a time like that.

Coming from the above average group. Makes for a crappy weapon and is an automatic deal breaker if you wanna use the back door of her house. Front entrance only :(

I know hundreds of people that carry...not a damn single one of them would I call a "scared little bitch". A well prepared m'fer you don't want to mess with is how I would characterize them. Several are veterans who have seen combat...those are definitely people you don't wanna screw with.

This is about one of the dumbest takes I have ever heard, and that is saying a lot with this topic.

Lol you think protecting yourself makes you a “little b”? Wtf is your plan when someone puts a gun in your wife’s face? Call them a scared “little b”?

And so bc they served that means they need to carry a gun to the mother fudging grocery store?? Do they realize the grocery store isn’t Iraq??

Perhaps this says more about the lack of mental health services for our veterans than it does anything else.

Where do you live, man? Are you walking the back alleys of Detroit at 2 am? Are you dealing drugs? Or do you live a) in the burbs or b) in the country?

Where is it that you fools go all the time that people are just whipping out guns and sticking them in your faces????

And why aren’t you preparing for falls? I pointed out that they are just as deadly each year. Do you not want to protect your wife or your kids from a deadly fall? How irresponsible of you.

***actually way less gun deaths as I believe out of those 38k or so in 2019 that about 24k were suicides

Lol funny you ask.

First off it only takes one bullet to kill and yes I have had a gun pulled on me. Where do I live? Palm beach shores, FL.

I deer hunt in the Midwest and Tennessee every fall and I wear a safety harness every single time I climb a tree. I can link it for you if you want to see the one I have.

Go explain to your wife that since you don’t have a gun pulled on you very often then you are completely fine with take a chance. While you are at it you aren’t involved in too many car accidents so I wouldn’t wear a seatbelt either. The odds ya know?? Lol what a ignorant argument you have.

LOL you’re comparing common sense safety precautions like wearing a safety harness when climbing into a deer stand and wearing a seat belt when driving to taking a gun while you shop for deli meat “just in case” and *I’m* the ignorant one, ok 👍

I’m glad you understand that.

Do you honestly think people like me are just running around causing those deaths or people who carry illegally are causing the deaths while committing crimes? We all know the answer.
