Recruiting forum off topic thread (no politics, covid, or hot button issues)

do you have much interaction with lay public? not political, non antagonistic question. I see a general lack of education in this region. Its sad.
I don't think it's education or lack thereof. My grandfather could barely write his name and he was smarter than PhDs that I've met. If it comes out of of any of the three aforementioned groups, I immediately file it in the Septic tank folder. It also has a lot to do with the propaganda media.

the cable media has gotten completely off the radar, and, that applies to the entire spectrum.

Because even a small percentage of the elite high school players make it to the NFL and stick long enough to see a second contract. The difference in $100k and $500k is also an excellent insurance policy against potential injury.

$500k in the current stock market will do a lot of work over the next 4 years. Even if you choose to hold back $100k for living expenses and luxuries, you can turn the remaining $400k into significantly more in 4 years and start off life in the real world with a nice nest egg to start.
I wish I was as confident the stock market is going to do well through the next 4 years as you are!

I started investing in 1985. The market definitely has had its ass kicked since then several times but it keeps coming back stronger. Past due for another kick in the nutz
I guess it depends on your stage of life. If I were 60 years old, and looking to retire in the next 5 years, I'd certainly consider moving into a much safer investment.

If I were advising an 18 year old, I'd tell them to put it in the market and let it ride. Like I said, over time, the stock market is undefeated.

I agree with your second point 100%.

I’m almost 60 and retired a few years ago. Based on family history both me and the mrs could live well into our 90’s. What’s this current safer investment option that will continue to modestly grow my savings so that it lasts 35+ years?

Sorry…poor wording on my part. I’d still keep it in the market, but with much more risk averse options made mostly of bonds and funds/stocks that pay dividends. And at your age (assuming good health and time on your hands) real estate. Rental properties, house flips, and even land purchases (another relatively foolproof proposition).

Nope. Even if that were true of those particular guys... that would not make it true of everyone. You are engaging in projection. You have particular moral and ethical positions... might even be called defects... so you either assume that everyone else does also or choose to believe so because it allows you to self-justify.

HT almost went to Bama initially. NIL made a payoff unnecessary. His plan is likely to enter the draft after this year regardless. I have no idea whether Gray or Morris are getting "paid" and you don't either. If they are then OU got ripped off. Lawrence is having a good year but why would they pay him when he had done absolutely nothing in his college career? There were open questions about his devotion to playing and effort.

Bottom line. Not everyone thinks like you. Thank the Lord.
The Lord loves profitable poeple
