There offense was 1 player. Doin the same thing over and over again. 100,000 fans knew it was coming and they couldn’t stop him until he ran 10-15 yards. He is good, but Lamar Jackson he ain’t, just looked like him vs UT

Wonder why our good SEC LBs couldn’t stop Corral from having a career day rushing against us?

That team has its own offensive guru, a Heistman QB, veteran OL, and most of all depth.

31 players. That's who we lost to the portal. That's an entire signing class plus...

Many experts didnt think we'd hit 5-7 this year. With those 31 stalwarts, we won a whopping 3 games in 2020.

if you cant see improvement in 2021, you may want to have eyes checked. Not arguing anymore.

No LB in America could stop Corral from getting chunk yardage on scrambles with our D Line who lost lane integrity a multitude of times. Blaming one position group is lazy. I sit in the North end zone and our dline was like the red sea half the time. Against ole miss you either drop eight and live with Corral running or leave your safeties to get shredded by him on passes.

510 total yards , 279 rushing yards and giving up 13 of 24 on 3rd and 4th down conversions is not what i consider a good game. We are not SEC level at linebacker and safety play. Yes Banks is the best we have, it is not even close. We lack depth, speed and size.
💯 true! Y’all see the PFF grades for UGA game. 39% for banks 2nd lowest on the D list

Kind of hard to do your job when all but one DLineman graded above a 60 dont you think? A linebacker relies on his line to do their jobs in order to do his. That being said he does get out of position too much but he doesn't deserve the judgement that's being brought down on him.
Edit: Beasley was non existent in that game but graded a 45 so I also take that stuff with a grain of salt.

Nothing in the discussion has been about improvement. Just LB play, specifically Banks.
Everything else you said is true, but that’s not what you have been arguing about!
Sure Banks is the best we have, great effort, improved , leading tackler, but still wouldn’t start on 2/3rds of SEC teams . Just like about 8-9 more of our D.

I'm sure he'd start somewhere else man, cmon.

#1 It's Tennessee, that's how this works. Player transfers, becomes all american.
#2 he is a very good backer, not best. Good.

Just stating facts, not judging.
Another fact: the other LB’s and most of the DB’s are worse.
It is what it is. If it wasn’t, they wouldn’t of been on the field for 10O plays vs Bama and UK or let Corral run at wil

We have to use different metrics in this new age of football….. yardage had a lot to do with ole miss running over 100 plays….. Here is the average yards per play given up against ole miss:
Louisville 7.79
Alabama 4.77
Arkansas 7.26
LSU 6.35
Auburn 5.72
Texas A&M 5.41

We gave up only 5.04 yards per play which is second to Alabama and also had 5 sacks…. 10 TFL…. first int of corral and got robbed of a defensive touchdown….. that seems pretty awesome to me…. We do need to fix third down defense but not bad for a undermanned defense with very little rotation.

I know, I'm not meaning to argue just trying to bring a broader perspective. I see the initial missed tackles and I blame individuals during the games like any insane fan does. That's typically why I rewatch the games after I calm down and try to see where the breakdowns actually happen. Banks shut Badie down several times and that kids as athletic as any rb in the SEC. I think Banks gets in trouble cheating the line of scrimmage and gets caught in the wash and out of position.

Exactly 3 teams run 100 plays because instead of stopping 3rd and long and getting of the field they stay on and run double the plays nearly every time they get the ball

True. The difference between good/average/below average isn’t just athletic ability.
If he gets the cheating, out of position fixed then he could be a good LB , but until then he’s gonna keep missing or making late tackles

That's fair. I see the 89tackles 4.5sacks and 9tfls and 1int, especially in today's spread offenses and don't buy he athletically isn't a really good linebacker. He's really only had this year being coached by an actual coach since neids obviously didn't do anything for them last year. I really think once he figures it out mentally he can be really good all around.

Anybody that thinks Banks “sucks” doesn’t know anything about football, or just likes to argue and stir up sh!+. He’s not a great LB, but come on. UT has had a ton worse LBs in the last 30 odd years. If the others on defense played to his level, or had his talent, UT wouldn’t by 5-5. That’s for damn sure. Probably 7-3. Let that sink in.

Oh. BTW.........Tolan would really help.

We definitely need to stop 3rd downs better…. I’m not sure what the break down is there…. We still played better defense against ole miss than most of the rest of the power 5 teams that played them.

Yes…. Get all the talent we can get.

Yep Beasley is over matched right…. Needs to get a lot stronger but he is head and shoulders above the guys behind him as well.
It’s more than strength, his recognition of plays is slow, he gets out of position and takes bad angles on tackles and he’s slow. You heard Tolen say it, LBs filling wrong gaps.

Amazing job by the coaches.
We struggle against all Slightly mobile QB’s .
Watch other teams play sometimes, you’ll be amazed what really good LB’s look like
We saw it when Hooker scrambled vs GA and FL. He got a couple but nothing consistent like every QB does against us
