He did point a "metallic object" at the officers before he was shot. It's not like he was walking around minding his own business.

There were 30 officers there...all pointing guns at the guy...the first sign of movement they all unloaded their clips. It was extremely excessive!

How about putting the guns down and trying to help this man...in obvious need of help.

9 police just shot a dude in the middle of I65 walking with a box cutter. The video is out there, but I am not posting it here.

Looks like he was asking to be shot imo. Sad

Agree it seems there must have been a better way. All those people pointing guns seems escalating.

How about not pointing what appeared to be a weapon at the police? 346 officers were shot in the line of duty in 2021 and 63 of those killed. If a person points a potential weapon at the police, the police do not put their guns down, wait to find out what is pointing at them, or wait until the suspect shoots first. They take the appropriate action. It is sad that the person chose this path, but the police did what they had to do. It is unfortunate when someone dies, but I do not support the police putting their weapons down when a suspect may have a weapon.

I'd like to know why so many shot. Why not let one person take control of the situation?
I agree with this. There are agencies who've spent tons of money on training in these specific scenarios to avoid this very thing.

Wouldnt a bean bag round upside the noggin' be as effective against a box cutter?

Easy say when you get to Monday Morning QB a situation. Until you’ve been in their shoes probably shouldn’t make comments like you know what to do.

If you are using less lethal rounds you are not taught to shoot at the head as at that point is no longer less lethal.

Report says box cutter was visible in left hand. His right hand was in his pocket. He quickly pulls his right hand out holding a silver object, pointing it at the officers.

cmon man, obviously was embellishing.

perhaps grenades would work better?

My apologies, reading texts can be difficult to pick up tone at times. (At least for me) Unfortunately there are a lot of ppl who think that way which is why I assumed it was a legit thought.
