If only the people in these stories had taken a firearms safety course.

Every death is tragic, especially when it is children. However, lawful gun owners stray bullets are not the problem that needs the most attention. That doesn't change my heart breaking for that little girls family, but what about the countless others that are hurt and killed by stray bullets from unlawful gun owners. What is the solution for that?

There should be a 48 hour rule for social media outrage. Once that 48 hours go by, then obviously nobody cared and everyone goes on with their lives. Going back and digging stuff up is bush league, especially when there are moving goal posts with some subjects (“transphobia” or “dead naming” are common current examples, not even a subject 15 minutes ago in history).

The permit is useful to have for legal reasons. Even now with permitless carry, if you end up having to use your weapon you will want every possible advantage available to show that you are a responsible citizen. You can defend your life and still go to prison.

Even if you do avoid that, you can be sued and potentially face financial ruin. When the police respond to your situation they will not necessarily assume you are on the level. People with agendas will gladly portray you as the villain if they can and it serves their interests. Everything that can be dug up about you, and what you’ve said in the past can paint a picture that a prosecutor might use to tell a story, whether it is true or not.

The old adage about being tried by twelve being better than carried by six might have a point, but it also misses one. Your life can be ruined even though you are still living. Marriages, friendships, finances, reputation, and your future opportunities have a good chance of being impacted negatively.

I do not believe there permit should be required, but it’s foolish not to have. The half day course is good information if you have never heard it before but it’s hardly sufficient training.

People need to train with their weapons if they choose to carry. Not because of any legal requirement, but because carrying a gun is serious and the consequences for being unprepared can be deadly.

I am very pro 2nd amendment. I believe firearm safety at least should be taught in schools. Everyone should at least consider their rights, and whether they should make use of them. That said, there are plenty of idiots out there are not doing themselves or the rest of us any favors when these awful, preventable tragedies happen.
I agree 100%. The permit class is a joke though IMO. The liberal demonization of guns has a lot to do with it. Years ago everyone, especially males knew basic firearm safety. Nowadays, just the sight of a firearm puts people in the fetal position. Back when I was in high-school most pickup trucks had a gun rack, many with rifles. No one freaked out. I often had a shotgun or a 22 in the trunk of my mustang for after school fun. No one called the cops and no one shot up the school. The NRA has/had an educational program for schools. The liberal education system administrators have worked tooth and nail to keep it out. What sense does that make?

I have my permit, lifetime. If you are going to carry out of state, you really need it.

I thought this headline was satire. Absolute absurdity.

THIS is cancel culture. Digging up old crap from when she was a teenager - and providing ZERO context. Very disappointed in Vol Network.

(Vol Network is definitely NOT batting a thousand right now. This and holding onto Kesling)
Should serve as fair warning to all young folks, not to put dumb **** out on internet.

I think most level headed people, esp those to whom would be most impacted by slurs. Wouldnt care about this.

She was a dumb kid. Firing her is absolutely wrong precedent.

Make her give a public apology. Move on.

Just keep in mind that 100% of all beef recalls and deaths from Beef all came from Federally inspected facilities.

Point being, just because you pay the money and a beaurocrat blesses you doesn’t make you better or safer.

I hope you’re not insinuating I’m a Dubya fan, or that anyone on the Right is.

If you do, you may need to spend some time with @Glitch, @InVOLuntary (I’ve heard your takes and I think we’re on same page) and myself and explain what we really think. May surprise you that you would probably agree with a majority of our stances.

This may be deleted, but seriously, we all should fellowship with an adult beverage sometime

I used this situation to reiterate to my kids to go back a scrub their social media accounts. Even if they don't think that a post is problematic if there is any way it can be viewed in a negative light it needs to go.

Because 10 times out of 9 it’s a farce. Don’t believe me? Go to the social security administration and watch the employees work. Also, there’s a difference between local, state, and federal. There’s a reason I specifically used the word Federally.

I despise it. I post pics of kids and fish; and, kids holding fish.

Other than that its purely business.

Ultimately it's up to UT or whoever the employer was.

Don't necessarily agree with it, but easier said as an outsider, especially when her core competency is interviewing...athletes...which are a majority black...talk about awkward and a PR nightmare regardless.
