Recruiting forum off topic thread (no politics, covid, or hot button issues)

It’s not about respecting her wishes. It’s about just moving on rather than insisting on getting into a pissing match over something utterly unworth any random message board poster getting personally invested in. Who cares if she doesn’t take kindly to someone making a comparison to Adoree Jackson? I’m not defending her. I’m not not defending her. It is just completely irrelevant to me.

This is a practice that more people should adopt generally on the internet. It just happens to be especially true when you are doing it as an (informal) ambassador for UT football and the person you are getting into a fight with us a recruit’s mom. Not because she deserves one thing or another — it is just pointless and counterproductive.
Why is this seemingly simple common sense wisdom so hard for people to understand? The only logical answer I can come up with is that they are dumber than a box of hammers.

That thread is proof there are some real f'n dumbasses in here 🤦‍♂️

Only if Johnfnkelly is blocked from entering it.
While I don’t agree with the way he conducted himself in that thread, she (?) was out of line with her enjoyment post about us being #5 in the CFP. She wasn’t just snapping back at him and SOME of the other posters, she was snapping back to all of us.

End of the day, we don't control where this kid goes. If a message board influences the decision, it's hard for me to imagine we were ever really an option. You pick a school for a number of different reasons, but I've never heard "message board" being one of them.
Exactly

You ever go to a store and have one employee treat you so 💩ty that you never go back?

I can't believe you are defending the dumbasses in that thread arguing with an important recruits parent...it was completely asinine.

It should have never come to that... there was nothing to be gained from getting into it with her to start with.

Not to mention that tone, inflection, body language, etc is completely lost in online communication amongst strangers

If you were at a high school game watching that player, and commented how he could be the next adoree or whatever player, and someone walked up to you and said "that's my boy, and he's the next nobody because he's the best ever" like most proud mothers, almost everyone on this thread would just do this

IDK. If it were my son I would not be happy. And I would make sure my son knew why I was not happy. So if it came down to other things being equal I would be sure to remind him what happened. Then tell him it was his decision of course.

Right on.

No man is soft for sticking up for his mom vs a bunch of nobodies online. Could never blame a man if he chose that route.

Also...what is wrong with some people here?!?

No, it shouldn’t have, but it did. I still go back to the mic drop on us being #5. It was directed to our whole fan base and not just to the ones that aggressively confronted her. There were several posters that told her that wasn’t a representative of our fanbase, but she went there. Look, I’m a mother of a former high school football player. If he played at the next level, you better believe I wouldn’t go on fan forums. I would have wanted a clear discussion with my son on his choices going forward in his college choices. We may not agree here and I don’t condone some of our poster’s behavior, but I don’t condone hers either.

I can't believe your reading comprehension is so bad. I'm not defending those dumbasses. Look at my previous post where I said people should be more respectful of a mother defending her child. But message board idiots should not influence your decision one way or the other.

And as for your analogy of "employees", we don't work for UT. If you go to a store and another customer mistreats you in some way, is that the fault of the business? What the hell is Tennessee supposed to do about idiots on an anonymous message board?

Use your senses before falsely calling someone out.

She also may have shared what was said with Boo and he may not appreciate the way the posters were talking to his mother. Not matter what…that whole exchange wasn’t good.

What she did is absolutely irrelevant, so condoning her or not is irrelevant...nobody on a Volunteer website should have gotten in an argument with a Tennessee recruits parent. It is stupid and indefensible.

I’ll paraphrase the great comic bard, Eddie Murphy in Raw. “Ain’t no (recruit) worth this (crap).”

None of us represent the University of Tennessee. This is a message board of people claiming to be Vol fans. How do we really know the ass holes are Vol fans? Mothers, fathers, and recruits should consider that. Maybe they're Bammers or dawgs or LSU fans pretending to be Vol fans for this very reason? We know VN isn't immune to trolls.
