Since I started this great controversy, I will point out that this was back in the late 70s / early 80s in a small town in Southwest Virginia and a lot of the weed we got was the infamous Mexican dirt weed along with some Columbian Gold or Panama Red and occassionally Afghani or Thai weed. So it wasn't like we were getting fried out of our minds on the daily (although we tried our best ). And weed was like $25 to $35 an ounce. I also bought pounds or half pounds from time to time, sold it to my friends, and had 3 or 4 ounces left over for myself after breaking even while also giving friends a really large bag cheaper than anyone else in town. Did the same thing buying acid by the sheet and keeping 30 or 40 hits for myself.
We got some Hawaiian my senior year which was the most beautiful buzz I ever had but like $8 for a pin joint back when the minimum wage was like $3 an hour followed soon after by Burmese which was the strongest weed I had ever had. It was borderline hallucinogenic. I initially thought a quarter ounce of that would last me a year as I got the most wasted I had ever been sharing a half a joint with a friend. Unfortunately I built up tolerance pretty quick and I think it lasted about 2 weeks

Where the piss do you find it for that price. I own a retail store and online store and can’t get it at that price that’s really good quality. I typically get 5-8lbs a week. Also had an indoor grow and couldn’t grow it at that price either

I did the 420 day challenge once in college. Never was there a 72 hours so foggy before

Those are what we called panes/windowpanes...... But never had black. We had blue, red and green but never got any black.

I figured out how they made those. You remember the texture of those old fluorescent light fixture covers they had at offices and schools? Same pattern, they would pour them over those plastic pieces and wait for them to cool.

Never tripped with that many people, that sounds wild!

Though one of the first places I lived at when I left home was a house we rented out with like 5 other people, including a close friends mom who was cool and partied with us some. She came home from work one Saturday night to a living room full of about 20 people watching the surgery channel on satellite TV.....laughing our arses off at a liver procedure........ Took one look at the room and said I didn't wanna know and went to bed.

I've heard of it but haven't ever visited. I had a friend from Pound which I believe is close to Clintwood and we used to play Grundy in football which, at the time, had some fullback that nobody could tackle. It was like Larry Csonka was on the field

Id like to see SW VA and WV revitalize similar to KY. Dollars from adventure or ecotourism seems like its untapped for them.

Thank you. I was admonished by a band of regulars simply because I called someone out for this. There is somewhat of a “you can’t sit with us” attitude by some of the regulars in this thread. Being a regular does not always equate to being knowledgeable. That goes for any topic.

Don’t sweat it. The band of regulars you are referring to can’t really handle people with different opinions. They are like a little high school click.

Yes, it's sad how bad things have gotten economically in that area. It always ebbed and flowed depending on how well the coal industry was doing when I was living there. Bramwell, WV which is near Bluefield once had one of the highest per-capita incomes in the US and there are lots of beautiful Victorian houses there.
Burkes Garden, which is just outside of Tazewell and about 20 miles from Bluefield, is a beautiful farming community and supposedly that is where Vanderbilt had originally planned to build Biltmore but couldn't get the owners to sell. Amish moved there a little while back but most didn't stay because many of the owners again wouldn't sell their land. The Back of the Dragon goes through that area and they have tapped into that bit of tourism to some extent.
