Recruiting Forum: Official Florida Pre-Game/Game Thread

How many "gut wrenching losses" have we had since 2010? The same lines get repeated after every game..we'll learn from it..come back stronger etc etc.

Bama 2009 (including it because it counts)
LSU 2010
UNC 2010
UF 2011 (Hunter's injury counts IMO)
UF 2012
Mizzou 2012
Vandy 2012 (blowout was a gut punch)
UGA 2013
UF 2013
Vandy 2013
UGA 2014
UF 2014
OU 2015
UF 2015

That's A LOT of ****ing gut punch losses in a 6 year span.

You know the rules. We lost 5 to 6 seconds and holding calls helped on some of those conversions. But, CBJ screwed up AGAIN. He is trying to hard instead of just coaching.

I thought so. I'm not trying to make excuses, but when your coach is this bad at managing games you need all the help you can get.

And satisfying close wins:

Vandy 2011
USCjr 2013
USCjr 2014

How are we still alive?

You could probably even count USC 2010, UGA 2011, USC 2011, and USC 2012 in there as well. They were close games where we had a chance until the final minutes.

UGA and USC 2012 were rough. I think we lost both of those on turnovers while driving to tie or win.

McElwain, "we don't lose to Tennessee," at the presser...so true

Lmao. That's his "The one thing Tennessee does is kick the **** out of Vanderbilt."

Only difference is we don't have a James Franklin on our sidelines who can do something about it next year. They will probably dominate us next year once Mac gets them rolling.

Booger on SECN just said that this is Butch's fault. Apparently 188-3 is the record for teams this year when leading by 14 points or more in the 4th quarter. And we have 2 of those 3 losses. Booger said that what happened is not a player problem and that it is a coaching problem and that Butch needs to figure out what he himself is doing wrong.

Booger knows.

We are officially the longest suffering fanbase in America. Michigan is back under Harbaugh. Notre Dame was back three years ago under Kelly. Miami will be back before us.

Here's some data that might be subject to a rigorous analytical analysis.

[grain of salt] Hey , at least Butch made an adjustment.
He yanked Jumper after those two misplays on the 1st UF TD drive

This one hurts in so many ways. Butch has proven himself as a recruiter but has given away 3 games now that warrant close scrutiny regarding his overall ability to coach. There are no more excuses, this is his third year, and most of the players on the field today are his. UF played two and three true FR offensive linemen along with a RFR QB and still beat us. Their players were dropping like flies in the 4th qtr but still found a way to come back from 13 points down. I think everyone on this team, players and coaches alike, started believing all the hype and have not yet figured out how to win the tough games where other teams have quality players also.

I'm not done with Butch or this staff yet, but they need to show improvement instead of making excuses and coach speak. Take ownership for their decisions and make the necessary adjustments to improve their coaching. Coaches need to improve just like players.

Speaking of players, there are plenty of questions still to be answered about our team. Will Dobbs ever be a true dual threat, or just a runner? That miss to Josh Smith was a killer. If coaches don't have enough confidence in him as a passer, why not give QD some time just to shake things up. Our WR's gotta be getting frustrated not ever being targeted for anything past 10 yards.

Our 5 stars are not having the impact everyone thought they would. KMac in particular, has not had the type of impact I thought he would. I know this is the SEC and they are still freshmen, but seems like our opponents have freshmen that make impact plays against us.

Right now, the general consensus 8-4 record is still possible, but appears will be a tough road. Even that will leave somewhat of a bad taste as it could and should have been 10-2. Not sure I can watch these next 3 games. Can't take watching these gut wrenching losses anymore. Probably going to dvr and check out the score before I watch. Would rather take the overtime at work than watch these kinds of losses.

Love Jones as a recruiter and as someone who values tradition. He really seems to love Tennessee. That being said I'm afraid he's one of the worst game day coaches I've ever seen. I like the D coaches and coach G but the rest of the offensive coaches are just that, offensive. If he's not ready to reload the staff after the season I think it's time to move on as painful as that is to say. I REALLY like the guy and hoped he would be here a long time but this is just damned humiliating.:mf_surrender:
