If OL doesn't improve drastically, I don't see the rushing attack actually improving without Hurd.

It's like people ignore how many yards our RB has had to fight for.

The way I see it is if the O line was so much better, opening huge holes, both Kamara and Kelly would run for more yards and produce bigger plays than Hurd.

When he breaks the record, it will definitely be hard-earned and well-deserved.

Can you imagine what Hurd would do if every yard he got past the line of scrimmage wasn't YAC?

I don't know, not many use a stiff-arm better. He may not be as elusive, but he might just run over someone if he ever got to full speed. I remember several plays in his career where people jumped on his back and went for a ride.

Hurd is pretty elusive for a big back but he also slows up and loses a lot of momentum at the same time. He also goes down very easily more than he should. He does have a mean stiff arm.

Hurd is a very complete RB, and is often asked to do stuff that aren't his strengths.

Kelly's 3 carries are North & South meanwhile I'd say a good 40% of HURD's carries are of TE off tackle variety where his pads are parallel to the LOS to start SMH

I'm not basing this off this year alone. Watching him run he looks like a better natural runner of the football TO ME. Did I call him a better overall player? No I did not but I do think he's a STAR in the making at RB.

Hurd is a MAN. Some of our fans don't realize this. That being said our coaches don't help him out with this dumb offense. Run the man downhill. You don't turn 245lbs sideways and make it easy for defenses to tackle him. Let the freight train hit them in the mouth.

I do, some fools don't appreciate him. He's one of my favorites and could have been legendary if used properly.

He's going to be legendary anyway, but if he had just been allowed to run N/S most of the time instead of the read option always going off-tackle... what might have been?

He has great burst and tackle-shedding ability when running vertically. I think he's faster than people give credit for too. He's never had ten yards to get full speed where someone wasn't hanging off his hip or back.

He is going to break the all time UT rushing record as a junior. I think the use of Hurd has been just fine.

Your first sentence is what I was referring to about him being legendary. But he might average 6 ypc in a different system.

That's our tendency as fans to think that way but the reality is that we've had running backs as good or better than him that won't have his totals. He hasn't even had a good passing game to go with the offense and has still rushed for a butt load of yards.

The notion that Hurd doesn't fit our offense is absurd. Great coaches adjust the scheme to fit the talent. I will let you guys draw your own conclusion on that one.
Hurd is no different that Jonathan Stewart or Lagaret Blunt at Oregon or even Michael Dyer at Auburn.
All physical backs who were allowed to get downhill In their spread offense.
Kelly is talented but his sample size is so small that we don't get to critique his vision , cuts or ability to make people miss.
