'18 Recruiting Forum: Official Florida Pre-Game/Game Thread

I did not get to watch game but I just watched the presser can someone tell me WTF happened with Sapp. Did he quit on us, and Pruitt tell him to GTFO?
He refused to go in the game so Pruitt asked him to leave.

Why would he refuse. That makes me madder than losing.
well, i think the one thing we really didn't know about this team, and it's chemistry is what they would do in the face of real adversity.

we're gonna find out. and we know where Sapp stands on that. i have zero issue iwth how pruitt handled that.

one wonders though how much more dissention among the ranks exists, and how that affects the rest of the season

It does point to everything ain't all hunky dory in the locker room.

I hope the traitor ass chut lights a fire under the true leaders of this team and they start whipping azz. I would be ready to bust somebody's head. As a Marine if the guy does not put out beside you and is a true liability he will not have to worry about the enemy taking care of him. Mentality is what we need. Imo

well, i don't know that we have any "leaders" on this particular team, and that's part of the problem.

this is going to be a lot longer of a rebuild than any of us wanted it to be.

there's certainly no real leadersip. that's for sure. they'll either find some on their own and things will get better, or they won't and this will be a 3-9 team.

Needs to be more people falling on helmets it sounds like. I hate to think that way but when f'ers start refusing to go in .........

Someone said it the other day, and it is so true...this program will be by leaps and bounds better, no matter what else, the day the last Butch Jones recruit is gone...and that includes Trey Smith, Jauan Jennings (and everyone knows how much I love #15), DKjr, Nigel Warrior, etc etc etc etc...all of them. Idk how bad or good all of them truly are, but after tonight I now can clearly see how deep the stain of Butch Jones is.

Example: after WV, we all thought we had found a good RB in Tim Jordan. Reality...Jordan should be playing at UT Martin or ETSU or UTEP. Nothing against the kid, but...

And does anyone remember when he committed? He was the last one into the class last year. When he committed, we were still in on Elijah Conliff, who I believe may have started for UF tonight on the DL. Butch took Jordan's commitment, we got full up, and Conliff went to UF. A 2* RB, over a 4* DL. Just another little way that Butch put the screws to us, and one more thing Pruitt has to overcome.

I believed that these guys could come around, with the coaches we have. I was bad wrong. They have been beaten down so badly, and the stinch of Butch is still so very strong...such a LOSER MENTALITY. The lack of S&C is so glaring, what a complete and utter failure in that department over the last 3-4 yrs. It stuck out like a sore thumb tonight, esp on the OL. The fact that Drew Richmond continues to take the field tells us just how bad it is.

One thing I still do believe though, Jeremy Pruitt WILL get this turned around. If it means taking the field with 30 guys, the rest can join Sapp on his way out the door. Although, I am utterly disappointed and disgusted about tonight, I still feel great about the future of this program. We WILL land Wanya Morris, Darnell Wright, Jackson Lampley, and the others...they WILL be that foundation.

Go Vols.

He was trying to create excitement around the program and motivate the players. Former players have been around the program a lot with Fulmer back, and they've tried to talk up the team. But trying to re-establish a winning culture with players who're gotten used to losing isn't easy. The team wasn't ready to play tonight and they didn't respond well to adversity-- and that wasn't due to the 20th. That's a team problem, and we're going to see more of it until the team toughens up.
Yep. We are the softest team that I’ve ever seen don the orange and probably that I’ve ever seen play in the SEC.

Not making any excuses for Sapp, but he watched Darren Kirkland walk away from the team only to be welcomed back with open arms and be given a starting spot.
🤷🏾‍♂️
He played pretty well at OLB and then switched to inside only to hardly play.

Refusing to go in wasn’t the right move but had he asked out of the program appropriately, I would have totally understood his frustration

Some more eye candy for your face, Florida's rushing defense this year:

Charleston Southern: 222 yards, 5.2 yards per carry
Kentucky: 303 yards, 7.1 yards per carry
Colorado State 70 yards, 1.7 yards per carry

Colorado is 8th worst nationally, only rushing for 82.3 yards per game.

Florida's rushing defense... even with Colorado State as a 1/3 of their competition ranks 103rd nationally, giving up 198.3 yards per game, at an eye popping 4.7 yards per carry. Tennessee gives up 4.0 yards per carry.

Tennessee has passed the ball (not counting QB scrambles, but actual passes) 31% of the time and run the ball (including scrambles) 69%. I would say this is exactly what you can expect on Saturday. You can expect Tennessee to have somewhere around 65 offensive snaps, with about 45 of those being rushing attempts. 45 x 5 YPC is 224 rushing yards. This would put passing attempts at about 20 for JG. His passing % has been high, but I would expect it to drop a bit this week. A completion % of 60% would be solid, with turnovers eliminated, meaning I would expect he would go 12/20 for about 8.5 yards per pass attempt, 170 yards.

Against Kentucky, Florida's best opponent to date, their offense managed the following:

Passing: 232 yards
Rushing: 128 yards

Is our defense as good as Kentucky? Maybe. Statstically we are a bit better against the run, and they are a bit better against the pass... though they have seen no Will Grier. So if my projections hold up for Tennessee's performance, and let's just assume Florida conveniently performs at their KY game level,

Passing
TN: 170 yards actual 208
FL: 232 yards actual 186

Rushing
TN: 224 yards actual 156
FL: 128 yards actual 204

Total
TN: 394 actual 364
FL: 360 actual 387

As I said before... very close game, and turnovers are going to be a huge variable key.
Passing and total yard estimates were very close. Rushing estimates were skewed and the turnovers were the ultimate nail
