'22 Recruiting Forum: Official Florida Pregame/Game Thread

O
He couldn't throw the past two weeks when Napier had him under center, in bunch formation pass plays. And Napier had him under center a lot leading up to this game. But throughout the season, AR has looked really good out of the shotgun, with the defense spread out. In that formation, it's easier for the QB to make pre-snap reads, and they don't have to turn their back to the play on the drop back.

I don't remember seeing one under-center pass play called tonight.

It's like Napier spent the first few games trying to force AR into a Brady-shaped hole, but finally decided to call a game to his QB's strengths and away from his weaknesses.

We saw a different AR and coaching staff than the previous two teams saw.
Receivers were running wide open against scheme, not busted coverage. Agree Richardson played great but we never adjusted at all and Banks has proof points that he can’t coach 3rd or 4th down.

We made so many horrible mistakes and made a bad FL offense look like the #1 team in the country.

Heup did his best impression of BUTCH and called too conservative of a game and it almost cost us... Pathetic

First time I am not happy and not impressed AT ALL with this staff other than Garner...

Why did we keep calling timeouts and not let the clock run ?

We let them score and go the length of the field in 38 seconds..... Horrible.
Please go be miserable somewhere else.

To all of those complaining about a “sloppy” win over Florida…🤣🤣🤣 STFU, have a good time tonight, and celebrate it. We should be thankful for a W over Florida, no matter how ugly or pretty it is. We now have 2 wins over 2 nationally ranked opponents in 4 games. Enjoy it. Quit being so damn miserable, and just enjoy the ride. Y’all can be excited and celebrate on a night we got a win over Florida and are 4-0, or you can complain and be pissy. I hope the majority of you choose to be ecstatic and enjoy tonight! Let that BVS go! GBO 🍊🍊🍊🍊 WDWTFA

Unfortunately you can't fix those people. I feel nothing but pity for them. Truly, not being fictitious. So sad for them.

Sure there are aspects that need improvement..Defensive Coaches that probably should be let go..But we just beat Florida and probably snuck in to the top 10, probably 8th or 9th in Heup’s second year..Beat two top 20 teams in 4 weeks..Just celebrate and enjoy the win and believe the “Heup”..I have almost lost my voice from yelling in a sports bar and behaving like a kid..It was fun and well worth with it!! And it’s a good time for a bye week to clean some things up and let Tillman heal and rest up for the meat of our schedule upcoming..
Go Vols!!
🙌🏈🍊🧡

He also kept there from being 2 or 3 minutes left on clock. You criticized me on Banks and you go after Heup? Are you watching?

I am not going after Heupel. Just didn’t like the play calling on our last possession. You are negative on almost everything. Like you probably are upset we won.

how many 4th downs did FL effortlessly convert today? Just about ALL of them. Banks needs to ease on down the road...

And your telling me we have no one better than Hadden #5 to play that position? If not, go grab a kid from Knox Carns or Webb and suit him up.... LAWD we are in deep 'ish if that's all we got.

Exactly--- Heup did his best BUTCH impression and ran it up the middle 3 times where he could have pressed and scored and put it away. He Also called timeouts to stop the clock instead of letting it run... First time I've seen very poor coaching from him. Almost cost us the game, but most on here don't see it, they just say "YAYYY WE WON!" and don't look at the particulars and how they will burn us down the road.

Our staff coached a mediocre game at best and I really look at this game as not so much that we won, but that time ran out for FL to beat us...

Our defense LB/secondary will cost us at LEAST 2 losses this season if things aren't dramatically changed.... AL, GA, and KY will FEAST on this secondary... just the facts right now...

I think people like you mistake players not making a play equals bad coaching. We were aggressive on offense for almost 3.5 quarters. Some penalties, a fumble from Fant and our OL not consistently getting a push in the run game kept this from being a bigger win.

Defensive gameplan was extremely solid and very aggressive. We stopped the run game....even Richardson didn't tear us up on the ground even though he had solid numbers. The pressure was good play calling and got AR off his spot but he was able to evade enough blitzes to extend plays and find WRs one the play broke down. He had not previously shown the ability to hit on those plays.

UF has a better OL than us and the DL is comparable with probably a slight edge to UF. Our scheme and ability to wear down their lack of DL depth late allowed us to salt the game away on the ground. Add in some timely "bend don't break" defense and we were in position to be in charge late. We slowed our tempo to leave UF's mostly anemic passing game with their only option since they were down three scores late.

This win is 100% on our coaches for their schemes, play calls, player development in key positions and smart situational awareness to play the numbers. The odds were overwhelmingly in our favor in the last few minutes and only a silly mistake from being too aggressive could have improved UF's odds. Our coaches know when to be aggressive and when to milk clock. They also aren't afraid to stop the clock to avoid penalties, being in the wrong scheme, being misaligned or just being in a bad match-up or risking confusion. Once again, good coaching and a ganeplan that set us up for a win without one of the best WRs in the country and limited RB depth.

Good against the run but absolutely garbage against one of the worst throwers in all of CFB.

Take the dub but wow.
It's amazing... When both teams were playing for the win the Vols were up 17 in the 4th quarter. When only one team was playing to win (and one trying to kill time) the team playing for the win almost did.

So glad we pulled that out. I was a wreck after UF recovered the onside kick. But we did it, and with the heartbreak we’ve experienced in this series, I will absolutely take the W any way we can get it. This offense is legit. Defense has a ways to go but it sure feels like this is a team and program on the right track.
