you don’t need an elite qb….. you need a qb that can run the offense….. He has no midrange passing game… can’t process what the defense is doing to him…. i love joe but it’s pretty obvious…. Heup’s offense simplifies everything…. makes it easier on the qb…. Joe just doesn’t have it.Agree to disagree. He has nowhere near the "it" factor of a Hooker or Young type QB that can be a gamechanger even if his teammates around them don't do their jobs well. But if his teammates do their job we can be successful on offense.
Dynamic QB play takes teams to elite status. There are very few QBs like that. But after that level, there are lots of good but not elite QBs. Milton can be in that group if the whole offense is executing.
The constant QB blaming usually simply sounds like blaming the President for the troubles in your life.
Spyre needs to be willing to spend more on both sides of the line. Have to be able to control the LOS. JMO, but 5* linemen are more valuable than 5* WRs. Heupel can make this offense work with average WRs. We've seen it. But he needs above average line play. We're not even getting average OL play this year. It's just bad.I don't blame coaches too much beyond not recruiting and coaching up the OL enough. You can't get too exotic when the OL is so bad.
You have to get the right type of O lineman. Plus a lot of O lineman aren't going to want to come here and have to play in that tempo.Spyre needs to be willing to spend more on both sides of the line. Have to be able to control the LOS. I wish the overly toxic people would migrate to the FF. I have no problem talking about what went wrong and where the breakdowns were, but all the sky fallers are nerve wracking.I am going to be very productive at work next week because this place is going to be to a toxic waste dump. I'll stop in from time to time but I think I'll mostly take the week off.
Defense has had one bad half all year this year. That’s it. Hey everyone is digging them and trying to say Milton is playing well. It blows my mind. Defense had a bad half but did enough for our team to come back in the second. Offense couldn’t do anything. Florida sat back and let us move on the second and we still couldn’t score when we needed.
Ok it’s fine to stop talkingYep. Ultimately it all comes back to Joe. The OL is what it is. Nothing we do schematically or personnel wise is going to make it immensely better, so we need someone at quarterback with the mobility and ability to throw on the run to overcome the OL’s shortcomings. Joe is lacking in both of those areas. I wish it weren’t so because I really do like the guy, but it’s just not working.
I just hope Heup is willing to pull the plug when the time comes. I don’t think we will see a change to start off the game against UTSA, but if the offense continues to sputter, I hope Heup will be willing to give Nico a shot. Of course, the best case scenario is Joe comes out and plays great against UTSA and rides that momentum into conference play. Just don’t think that’s realistic at this point, though.
