Yep. Ultimately it all comes back to Joe. The OL is what it is. Nothing we do schematically or personnel wise is going to make it immensely better, so we need someone at quarterback with the mobility and ability to throw on the run to overcome the OL’s shortcomings. Joe is lacking in both of those areas. I wish it weren’t so because I really do like the guy, but it’s just not working.
I just hope Heup is willing to pull the plug when the time comes. I don’t think we will see a change to start off the game against UTSA, but if the offense continues to sputter, I hope Heup will be willing to give Nico a shot. Of course, the best case scenario is Joe comes out and plays great against UTSA and rides that momentum into conference play. Just don’t think that’s realistic at this point, though.
