Heupel’s offense doesn’t really have a big mid range passing game. I read that when he was hired. We saw more on our last drive.

Didn't seem to be missing last year at all. I remember lots of crossing intermediate routes

How many terrible OLines and bad tackling teams have ever turned it around mid season? I can think of none. Maybe South Carolina has since UNC I guess

Same. I was hopeful the Peay game was an anomaly, but I think that game revealed what we really are, particularly on offense.

The defense sucked in the first half, but winning a conference game in today’s day and age of football is incredibly difficult to do when you only score 16 points. As long as number 7 is taking the snaps, the offense will continue to be below average.

I think this offense should be featuring squirrel white a lot more. The way Florida was getting 3 the ball, squirrel should get those chances in space.

You have to get the right type of O lineman. Plus a lot of O lineman aren't going to want to come here and have to play in that tempo.
We will probably never have a great line under Heupel.

So this is the third time this has happened.

I have no idea, why in hostile road environments, we are doing so much pre-snap communication. At some point I expected them to just keep the same formation, get the play from the sideline, and run it. If for no other reason than we were down and needed to go fast.

Time for a lot of soul searching. That one hurt. A lot. But I still love my Vols.

A personal request, if you feel the overwhelming need to be negative and post negative things, please, take it to the FF where they welcome such posts. They thrive on it. I promise you, the vast majority of the RF really doesn't want to read it, so your negativity is meaningless here.

Yep. Ultimately it all comes back to Joe. The OL is what it is. Nothing we do schematically or personnel wise is going to make it immensely better, so we need someone at quarterback with the mobility and ability to throw on the run to overcome the OL’s shortcomings. Joe is lacking in both of those areas. I wish it weren’t so because I really do like the guy, but it’s just not working.

I just hope Heup is willing to pull the plug when the time comes. I don’t think we will see a change to start off the game against UTSA, but if the offense continues to sputter, I hope Heup will be willing to give Nico a shot. Of course, the best case scenario is Joe comes out and plays great against UTSA and rides that momentum into conference play. Just don’t think that’s realistic at this point, though.

After the L to SC we’ll see Nico. Patience.

We also had a top ten pick at right tackle along with a very experienced and under appreciated left guard. Not having those two has made an enormous difference.
