Recruiting Forum: Official Georgia Pre-Game/Game Thread

You know what's awesome? Going back in this thread to the point where we were down 21 and then reading from there. I just did that.

Woooo!!

I didn't see a receiver in the area and he wasn't out of the tackle box. Should have been flagged.

There was a receiver running the opposite direction in the same 10 yard zone outside the hash. I guess that was close enough for these refs but I've seen closer called as grounding.

WR was plenty close IMO. They got that one right

Ya the PW pi and the recalled block in the back and the obvious smack to Dobbs helmet were the really blatant misses.

No doubt

Weird thing is if the punt had been called back I am not sure we would have had the time or sense of urgency to regain the momentum before half. Perhaps it was a good break

Thought there was PI on Jennings on the INT too.

Still disagree about the grounding but I'm willing to look at a replay when the game ends up on YouTube.

1) I am so glad I was wrong.

2) I'm so glad I didn't post what I was thinking at 24-3 which probably would have gotten me banned and/or prison.

Yep. I stopped posting after the fumble + TD debacle to start the game. It's just better to let the game play out and avoid looking like a jackass.

Learned my lesson after USC last year. I had a huge meltdown and called for everyone to be fired. Then we won.

As many times as I've nearly been perma banned, you'd think I'd learn. But yeah that's what makes cfb so fun. Literally anything can and will happen

It's been a longggggggg day, but man what an experience it was to be there. I can't say enough how impressive our freshman OL are. Khalil and Shy are monsters. Nice to see you Josh Malone. I'd like to see a whole lot more of Martin. Happy for the kids and coaches, now enjoy the bye week and get healthy.

Oh, and the recruits seemed to be in the game the whole way.

Georgia at Tennessee:

Georgia has piled up some big numbers on soft opponents, early in the season. Bama brought them back down to earth last week, and maybe provided the Vols with some ways to bring out a victory.

Keys to Victory:

1. Continue to pass: Tennessee showed a commitment to developing the passing game against Arkansas. To be honest, it wasn't the best, but they must continue to pass if they want to win football games. Dobbs was 20-36, 232 yards on a slippery field. This included some drops, wise throw aways, and a couple the seemed to lack effort on the receiving end. Although some question Dobbs ability to pass, there are yards to be found in the passing game, and Bama showed that if you poke in the right places, UGA's secondary can be exploited. Dobbs needs to pass for 250+ yards.

2. Mobile Dobbs: Dobbs was not his normal, slashing self in the game against Arkansas. His game is built on cut-and-go mobility, and the field simply took that away. That was a huge detriment to the offense, and I would argue, an element that was a game changer. UGA has a very good front 7 and pressure will be on Dobbs. If he can slash and go, he could find monster yards on the ground. If not, he will be hit often in the backfield.

3. Ground Chubb: A little secret... Nick Chubb is the key to the UGA offense. They will not beat you through the air... period. Chubb gets huge yardage every game. Sometimes, he can be held in check, and then burst through for 80 yards on a single rush. This scares the dookie out of me, given the way our MLB has been playing, and Randolph seeming to miss more tackles by the week. Chubb cannot get the big run, and the defense must keep him pinned down.

4. Finish the Game: Recurring theme. Players are missing assignments on defense, and it has to stop. The offense has to run efficiently for 4 quarters.

5. Adjust your gameplan: The opponents will adjust to the Vols gameplan, depending on the progress of the game. If the Vol coaches are too stubborn to adjust along with it, we will lose.

6. Run with the Hurd: If Hurd out rushes Chubb, we have a very good chance in this game, assuming turnovers are not skewed in UGA's favor. He must have touches... catches and runs. Try the edge, up the gut... find something that is working, and balance the offense with a steady dose of Hurd.

7. Come to Play: You can only judge so much by watching on TV, but the team lacked intensity last week, IMO. Either you are ready to leave it all on the field, or you are not. The Vols have the TALENT to run with UGA this week. If they can come with a tenacious mindset, and the coaches make the right calls, they may pull this out.

Prediction: I've been burned too much this season to think this one is going any different than what I have seen. Prove me wrong.

UGA 41
TN 20

Not one single"like" for my OP, but I would say those keys were pretty spot on. Y'all were stingy grumps last week :eek:lol:

I amended my score prediction later for a 3 point Vol victory :)

You predicted a loss you man of little faith. I went back and liked it anyway.

Lol, where could I find faith, after those three losses?

October 6th, I called "Vols by 3", and kept it there. I think in the FF prediction thread, I had Vols by 3 or 7.

It's not he who believes first, but he who keeps the faith till the end, who prevails :)

Ya I'm not an official basher usually, but some of these were on par with some of the OU ones, and those were just awful.

Some of the 1st half blunders were the worst ones I've seen. Not sure how you pick up a penalty flag on the block in the back. The ref said the block was from the side...it wasn't even close!

Good point, but you never know what could have happened...fumble, INT, etc. Who cares now! WE WON!!!

Without going back thru the thread how many here wanted cbj to go for the 4th and 1?

I didn't at the time but it certainly was a 55/45 thing IMO
