Not taking away anything from Calloway but Byrd and Williams are both faster.

Calloway looks about 4.5, which isn't slow at all. Especially for a guy as physical at the catch point and goes and gets it like him. Stud.

What a player clocks in shorts running the 40 doesn't always translate to pads on the field. Jerry Rice never topped 4.6 but rarely got caught when it counted. Byrd needs to concentrate on bringing them in or his speed is irrelevant.

I saw a talented QB, some good backs, great coaching and some athletic defenders. Let's just see how they are moving forward. What did you see?

I saw an average QB, on a decent team with good coaching that outplayed a very unprepared defense with a below average DC.

Same thing with Steve Largent

Just once I would like to see the fans control a game, make the decisions.

They could hand everyone a remote with buttons as they enetr the stadium. It would have options such as call time out, go for 2, run left/middle/right, slant pass, post, etc. You get the idea.

And let the fans call a game. What a glorious fubar that would be. I bet we would lose by 100. Then maybe some would see that's it's not easy making decisions and being a coach.

Not me sir... we would win by a hunnit or to

Last thing to close out GT, I really appreciated E. Mosley picking up the GT qb after the final play.

Good thing to see in a hyper snarky world.

Lol! So true. I'll give y'all a quick glimpse of our fanbase...

Guy sitting next to me last night is going crazy all night that Butch stinks, WRs can't catch, jumped all over Butch and Wolf when Wolf let the deep ball hit the turf (although Wolf was laid out in full extension trying to catch it). When we get to OT, he asks me what happens in OT and how is it set up in college football. I explained it to him, yet in the back of my mind I'm thinking "you are in Orange and reaming our team, yet you don't know how OT works??? I mean we played in 2 OT games just last year...did you just start being a fan this year???"

Also, there were many around me jumping down Butch's throat because our WRs can't catch the ball. Lol. It's amazing how blind a lot of our fanbase is. It's why we get picked on so much by the media.

I will admit I screamed at Butch about not using that timeout. You guys know I like Butch but he is lacking with clock management and in game decisions big time. That is the main thing that kills me with him.

That's understandable because it's a coaching decision. The things these people were yelling at him about was WRs dropping balls, and the pass Ethan laid out for bit couldn't pull in. Stupid.

I cannot believe how tore up everybody got about the first game. Played on the road with a QB debuting in his first start while losing its stud WR and with a DC that apparently knew nothing about how to defense a triple option style offense despite its basic existence since before he was born and having literally months and months to prepare.

We won. Take the good with the bad and know the coaching staff will make adjustments. The O looked really good in the second half. The UF game will tell us where we are as a team.

Defensive tackle play showed poor fundamentals which will affect the outcome of any game: lack of explosion, poor leverage, running around blocks, shoulders not parallel to the LOS, fighting against pressure.

If not corrected this defense/team will be severely challenged by all opponents.

Agree for the most part. It has to be for any success at all.

Offsetting the line backwards contributed to the issues IMO. Big guys have a hard time staying low with leverage. Taking one quick step and engaging versus 2-3 steps changes things for the worse. Add in GT's O-line method is to stay low and chop block. Also, I am not yet convinced there have not been fundamentals changes with Hoke coming in versus Stripling's method. Hoke has more of a neutralize versus penetrate approach from what I've read. That style should free the LB's more by keeping the O-line from getting second level. But have not seen enough action to know.

After re-watching all of the offensive plays QD only completed two throws of 10+ yards in the air, and one was that long throw to Quez and that was under thrown. The rest of his completions were dink and drunk throws. The throws down field were either in coverage or behind the WR's. Had he lead some of the throws they would've went for big time yards.

This wasn't meant to bash QD, but he needs to improve greatly on his accuracy or we'll be in trouble.

the deep throw to Callaway is meant to look like that. gives Callaway the best chance with a high safety
