Agreed. Our fanbase does it to themselves. For those who ring Butch for his butchisms and "stupid things like a trash can ont he sideline", pot meet kettle. I will say that our wideouts dropped way too many passes in the first half and I couldn't believe that. They got their act together and performed. IMO, they catch 4 of those dropped passes, especially the 3-4 that were dropped on the first two offensive series alone, Dormady settles in quicker and the outcome is different. But, we still won and that is hard to do being 14 points down to a triple option team.
Play calling I put on the coaches. We abandoned the run at times we shouldn't have and went full Chaney. Never go full Chaney when you have Kelly as you RB. The dude Mack trucked GT defenders. I think Dormady should have kept the ball to keep the defense more honest, though. Notice how they reacted when he kept it the one time in the fourth quarter? He needs to keep it 3-4 times a game. He isn't a Dobbs threat on the ground, but he will gain 4-6 yards consistently with that and I am okay with that. Use it.
The clock control of a triple option team is so hard to overcome. It was a tale of two halves on the offense. The poor defense was so gassed due to the offensive woes in the first half. The defense was out there for 2/3 of the game. I don't care if you are Bama, that is tough to overcome.
Playing calling (offense) was bad in the first half but the WRs did no favors. The second half seemed to be better well adjusted after Dormady settled in. My only gripe about the defense was the DBs playing off. I understand the fear of cut blocks given our depth and injury woes. Thankfully, we wont have to play a team like that again.
The offense did seem to get better when Dormady was a threat to keep it.
