Recruiting Forum: Official Georgia Tech Pre-Game/Game Thread

It seemed a bit obvious the offense knew it was critical to score early and this caused pressing. QD looked really relaxed down the stretch and in OT. Some bad, some good from last night...locking on receivers was biggest issue

I don't know why y'all still trying to argue with him about QD. It's obvious he isn't gonna change his tune.

Doesnt mean Im gonna sit idly by when he lays out garbage as fact. But yes, I agree he will not defer

Fact is he doesn't look like a 3rd year QB in the same system should look. Man didn't just miss throws he threw what should've been picks. If he throws the same way against Florida we will lose from pick 6s.

What a weird game. I had this sinking feeling in my stomach in the 2nd half, but I kept feeling like we were hanging around and only needed 1 break to get back into it. That happened. And then Bain happened. And then somehow our defense miraculously stopped them in the backfield on the 2 pt conversion attempt when we'd held them to no gain one time in the second half to my recollection. It was surreal. I don't know what the future holds for this team, but dang, I loved the heart they showed after taking multiple punches to the mouth last night.

Here's hoping the defense looks much, much improved when they line up against a conventional offense.

You would think that a supposed db coach would see that the problem just wasmt on QD but also on the receivers. There were many plays where QD and the receivers were not reading the same coverage, this leading to inaccurate throws. Yes QD had a poor first half with low throws and forced throws into coverage, all things that can be expected in your first start. At the same time there were several throws that as easy as they seem, they were executed to perfection. How many bad snaps did he save. If hes struggling with forced throws game 6 sure its time to question his vision and ability but not after his first start.

As a coach, Butch has the "intangible" that you talk about in players. He somehow just wills his team to do incredible things when they're behind and their backs are up against the wall. But he's horrible when he's trying to hold a lead in a big game that his team is otherwise dominating. It's bizarre.

I really thought he settled down in the second half. I'm betting Canales worked with him on stepping up in the pocket. The OL missed a few blocks in the first half but imo the pocket was cleaner than it looked and he just didn't trust it and was floating back away from the los.

He's staring at where he's going almost every snap. If you all didn't see it last night then you were just watching the game. People calling it personal but I'm pointing out something DBs are taught to look for. A dude that can't hurt you consistently with his legs needs to be great at scanning the field. If he was a 1-2nd Year player I'd be open but in your 3rd year in a system some things should look much much better. First game or whatever he was locking in like always has. He had time and still was throwing with bad footwork and mechanics. That's a problem because teams like Florida, Georgia, Bama and LSU will heat him up. And they will look to jump the short routes.

I think Callaway just took the game over. Haven't seen a kid attack the football like that in a while. Kid has STAR power at WR.

Callaway certainly had a great half, but the ball was just where it need to be for Callaway to high point it on the two big catches where Callaway went up to get the ball. QD knew who he was throwing to and both of those throws were where they needed to be.

I feel we should have came out running and used it to set up the pass. I think it would have settled QD a lot faster and, if productive, kept our D off the field. Our offensive play calling did the D no favors last night early in the game.

I would assume that is exactly what GT counted on UT doing with a first-time starter at QB

Officials not making obvious calls is open concession of their bias. Fireable offense, IMO.

The facemark yank on Callaway's last catch, the intentional clip into Gaulden's back, the rolling starts forward, etc. - were all open for multiple officials to see each time. Disgusting.

Yep, all of those were horrendous.

We aren't coached by Harbaugh

Guess who is.....

Speight, you know, the guy who threw 2 pick 6's. DB's are db's for a reason. They aren't wr's. A wr should and usually does win a large majority of 50-50 balls for that very same reason. Under throws are preferred over over throws to avoid picks. QD was probably hammered on that fact and over compensated. Adjusted and looked like a winner.

UF and their vaunted db's aren't scaring anyone anymore.

You hated Dobbs but love a guy who's a worse passer. Smh
