Love beating that egghead Stoops. Pretty sure the player that was “hurt” there at the end was directed to lay down. Stoops didn’t know the clock would start back.
Resilient win. Porous performance by the defense for the most part, but they did get a couple of key stands in the red zone.
Aside from one play where Joe missed a wide open man on a crossing route, I thought he played his best game of the season. He wasn’t asked to do a lot, but he made plays in the run game, extended plays in the passing game. Just executed a very high level.
Our running back trio continues to prove that it is elite. Sampson and Wright were terrific. One other observation: Donte Thornton made some plays tonight. Moving to the outside might be huge for him going forward.
Looking ahead, that Missouri game is scary with the weapons they have at wide receiver and with how vulnerable our secondary looks. Leary has been lousy all season (and will likely revert to his lousy form the rest of the way), but we made him look like a star. For now, though, let’s enjoy another win over the Mildcats.
