‘23 Recruiting Forum: Official Kentucky Pregame/Game Thread

Joe had a better game than the stats would suggest IMO. I really wish we would mix it up with play action more. Like a lot more.

I'd love to know the pass/run ratio on 1st and 2nd down. If it isn't 90% run it sure feels like it.

We have a great run game. But having a great play action game should be part of that.

I love that Heupel is not happy. Not upset but he wants to be better. Good coach...not perfect but not stubborn, learning and runs a dynamic offensive scheme. He and his staff develops players and hit consistently on the kids we recruit because he recruits for our scheme instead of whoever is available with a high rating.

Anyone doubting he is the guy we need is crazy. We lose this and 1-2 other games this year with any of our previous coaches going all the way back to Fulmer post 2003.

9-3. Let’s ride

We won and have two losses you Moran.

Love beating that egghead Stoops. Pretty sure the player that was “hurt” there at the end was directed to lay down. Stoops didn’t know the clock would start back.

Resilient win. Porous performance by the defense for the most part, but they did get a couple of key stands in the red zone.

Aside from one play where Joe missed a wide open man on a crossing route, I thought he played his best game of the season. He wasn’t asked to do a lot, but he made plays in the run game, extended plays in the passing game. Just executed a very high level.

Our running back trio continues to prove that it is elite. Sampson and Wright were terrific. One other observation: Donte Thornton made some plays tonight. Moving to the outside might be huge for him going forward.

Looking ahead, that Missouri game is scary with the weapons they have at wide receiver and with how vulnerable our secondary looks. Leary has been lousy all season (and will likely revert to his lousy form the rest of the way), but we made him look like a star. For now, though, let’s enjoy another win over the Mildcats.

Sampson took over that game. Props to Milton for playing a pretty good game. Didn't have Thornton being the leading receiver on my bingo card.
Passing game has improved last two games a lot. Joe getting healthier definitely helped and guys are catching the ball now. Really happy to see Thorton play well. He made some key plays. Worried about the oline though. Offense couldn’t do anything when John Campbell went out. One injury on the oline impacts us way too much. Hopefully they can stay healthy the rest of the year.

5 penalties over the past 2 games. Help me remember tonight..... was the penalties on KY, all pre-snap tonight?
Asking the same, was there a live game penalty called on KY?

If not it would be two full games without a single live game penalty called on our opponents. If that is the case I wonder what the statistics say about that actually happening?
