Probably won't name a starter till gameday, keep the cocks guessing which bad qb gets the nod.

Prob won't matter. No matter who we trot out there, Champ will stack the box with 7-8, and say good luck winning through the air.

I am not a QD fan but I am not impressed with JG either and don't think he is going to fair any better. Just don't get how two QB's that both have strong arms and obvious talent can look so bad. Coaching I guess along with some really terrible play calling by Scott.

One thing is UT doesn't appear to be establishing any continuity on the OL. Every game something has changed. They pulled Kendrick from RT and placed him at LG for UGA game. D.Richmond, J.Robertson, T.Smith are locked into their positions so the problem is the guard position on both sides. Most us fans felt our OL had gotten better prior to beginning of the season and that doesn't appear to be the case. From the players perspective, I can easily see them being somewhat confused leading to Boulware's decision to leave the team. A good coach woulda picked best 5 and left them there starting 1st game. Our defense went thru this last year and the same scenarios keep getting repeated.

It's obvious that only RG is developing talent on the offense. A lack of development and inability to evaluate players has simply wrecked most of this offense. If money is a problem which it isn't, (I think), UT needs to get a top notch OC in here very quickly to secure a good incoming recruiting class that could include Mays and Corvin, (w.tenn.), and then we'd have a pretty solid OL to hopefully protect JG and the incoming QB's, one who is very talented. I don't think it wise to break-up what little continuity we seem to be gaining defensively.

I also have little faith, and I hate that almost as much as losing.

South Carolina 30

Tennessee 13

Just don't feel like we've got any momentum whatsoever. We're better than South Carolina, but they're going to be excited for this one and I don't think Tennessee will be.

I've got the Gamecocks, 26-13.

Absolutely agree we have no momentum as a program, but within the college game that can be turned by a single play or player. Ty Chandler could house one of the (too many) kickoffs, Warrior could get a pick 6, JKelly could busy a long run...

I don't really see any of that happening to matter though.

We lose 27-21.

No way we win with JG in his first start and the horrible play calling we have seen all year. Defense will show heart but will run out of gas in the second half. 27-7.

If they stack the box all day, I can see JG maybe connecting on a deep ball or two and making them pay (if the WRs can catch the damn thing).

Having someone who can hit the WRs in stride should help the passing game, but I could see JG trying to force some throws and turning the ball over as well.

I think it will be a true barometer of where Butch is as a coach. I think it will answer a lot of questions. Has Butch really lost the team? Is the locker room as bad as rumored? Is the offense as inept as it's shown?

I think the offense is very bad. I don't see us scoring more than 10 right now.
The true barometer was the best team in the east last week. Not a mediocre to bad SC team.

Hopefully the team (bunch of individuals) will forget about the coaches, all the external and internal racket, etc., show some pride and play for themselves, play for each other. If they do this, if the D can rattle SCAR's young but gutsy QB, if JG can make some plays and get some help from the OL and receivers, and if Jelly has a good day, than maybe Butch can finally beat Musch. That might be a fitting penultimate game for the caretaker of Tennessee Football.

I'll be optimistic.

I'm always optimistic. I think JG hits a deep ball early, gets some confidence and runs with it. Our WRs step up and help him out, we win. I want to see Bump amd Murphy get some meaningful playing time. I think they can contribute now

Agreed. USCe isn't good enough this year (especially without Deebo Samuel) to be that much of an indicator of where this team/staff are at as a whole. Not unless we come out and just grind them into dust in all three phases of the game.

I don’t think so

Maybe if three INT, but I think he knows QD gives him no positives, except possibly sack avoidance

He may look like a superstar in practice, but QD has oftentimes thrown in double or triple coverage, many fumbles, many interceptions while staring down the receivers.

JG should have as long a long leash.

We really have nothing to lose at this point, since I think our coach is done. (and while I gripe and am frustrated, I do appreciate what Butch Jones has done to build the VOLS and wish him well.)
