How many of you feel this way.

We will win with JG.

But would win by more with Shrout or Maurer? With maybe more mistakes, but more big plays?

I know JG is not the greatest at all, but he did throw a couple of TDs against SCAR last year. I need to see more out of Shrout to form an opinion of him. He may see playing time if JG sucks Saturday which is possible. Maurer? I just get a feeling that he eventually transfers once Bailey moves up the depth chart.

I expect a sloppy game on both ends for this one with alot of penalties and turnovers for both teams. I think Cimaglia (who i think is an elite kicker normally) may struggle a bit this game after seeing alot of the pro kickers struggle week 1 adjusting to the new kicking environment. I think in the end we pull it out similar to the bowl game last year but we do come out on top. Vols 20 USC 16. Defense or special teams will get us 1 score and JG struggles for most of the game to find consistency.

Yeah but one of those touchdowns was all Jauan.

The other was his best throw of his life for sure.

But Shrout hit Callaway deep for a TD where JG didn't lead him.

I mean Maurer was definitely better than Shrout last year. Has been slowed by that hamstring it seems.

But look. We will run the ball. Hopefully well, which will open up some sweet play action opportunities. There's gonna be guys streaking down field, open and JG won't hit them in stride. Shrout and Maurer can though.

I put a Benjamin on Vols to win the SEC this year. 10000 to 1 odds. That's a 10K payday if it happens, and this team is the most under-rated in the league imo. You forgot to mention our Oline that are arguably # 2 or # 3 in the conference and that gives our RB's all the support they need for a formiddable running game.

The thing is, Cimaglia is better than a lot of NFL kickers.

I am not going to pretend that I have any idea what is going to happen in this game. I am trying to go into this would no expectation except that I will be happy Tennessee football is back on. I have watched FCS, Group of 5, Power 5 and now NFL football since it has started back and I have noticed a trend. That trend is lack of defense and poor tackling by many teams. I believe this has to do with the fact that contact has been limited in some shape or form (none if you are Navy). I have a feeling that we are going to see some of the same in this game, but it does help that the Vols bring back a lot of experience on defense.

Would that not be a million dollar payday?

I think it’s gonna be an ugly one. JG will be awful. But we’ll win the game similar to the MSU game last year. They won’t be able to stop our OL and run game. Vols win 17-13
And you know what assume means right?

Don't automatically assume that he will play bad. JG problem has been consistency and not talent. He has the arm and he has the ability. It's between his ears sometimes. Playing 2 yrs in the same system is going to be huge for him!

17-3 SC at halftime.. 90 percent of us check out... Defense shuts SC out in the second half while SHROUT and company put up 31 unanswered... Final 34-17 Every one of us opt back in and expect a 50 burger to be put on Missouri the following weekend
Finally someone with a realistic projection!

Could end that with “rinse and repeat”.

Uhhmm...math seems fuzzy..🤔

If we lose or only win by a couple points, it's gonna be a long season. The cocks were not good at all last year and they lost their 2 best on the DL, their 1 and 2 RBs and 5 start freshman RB, their best starting WRs and they have a new OC and new QB who sucked at Colorado St. The only excuse for lack of a complete beatdown is the missed practices due to Covid, but they're dealing with that too. Not to the extent we are, but still dealing with it.
34-10 Vols

It is college football, anything is possible. In 2019, We lost our opener to Georgia ST, SCAR beats UGA, we got destroyed by UGA, and UT Demolished SCAR. Be happy with a win if we get it.

If JG's issue is between his ears then why not do what the Braves did back in the day and get him with a sports psychologist. Smoltz had to have his DR in the stands for him to pitch for a while.

I get it, but I'm tired of excuses and tired of settling. I'm ready to start beating teams like a drum. I'll be happy to get out with a win too, but I'll be ecstatic if we handle them easily and look good doing it.

Yes, it would. He got trigger happy with the odds- I think UT is 100/1 to win the SEC.
