Kinda different on the D-line. I think Barnett is better but yeah he's balling out. That superman sack was silly last week. Lol

Insane athletic ability. He is better than Garrett imo. That's no slouch to Garrett either. All 3 are top 15 players in the country.

Serious prediction here. Kelly goes for 120+ yards (he's been something of a bright spot, right?), but we continue to struggle on offense. We pick up a TD on either special teams or defense. The makeshift D-line mostly holds up against an inferior opponent with Barnett picking up multiple sacks. We cruise to a lackluster win with TTU scoring late to make the score a little closer than it should have been.

UT - 34
TTU - 17

Kinda low don't you think. Kelly may get 200 Saturday. He's dynamic as a runner. Averaged 6.7 yards a carry Saturday. Had 91 versus A&M in back up action. Plus he's playing the worst team on the schedule.

Yep, I think Kelly will go nuts running the ball & CFA will be itching for a chance to atone for his miscue last week.

UT Martin had 97 YR vs. TT this year & scored 44 pts;
Jax State had 249 YR & scored 40 pts.;
Mercer had 142 YR & scored 34 pts.;
E. Ill had 200 YR & scored 30 pts.;
Wofford had 346 YR & scored 21 pts.

All in wins vs. TT this year. We should get at least 200 YR rushing this Saturday, or just shut it down for the season. :p Vols 44-10.

Important game despite the fact that TTU is a FCS team.

This team needs to show up for 60 minutes. Yes, it's just Tennessee Tech. It would also represent the first time all year that we've done so, and doing it would be a lot better than not doing it.

Not going to bother with predictions. Just go out and dominate this ****ing game the way Tennessee should. Enough BS.

Or he will get 12 carries.

We probably rout them but how can anyone be surprised if that predicted score happens.

We know he has wheels. I'd think his vision is superb being that he hits those seams on the kickoff full speed. Let him tote the rock some.

Direct snap, toss sweep, screen, etc. Plays that would create space and allow him to get to full speed would be ideal.

Agree completely. Design a few plays that get him the ball moving full speed. Not sure I'd go the WR screen route, maybe reverses. We ran some last year or the year before (can't remember which) where we'd bring the WR in motion and do a little pitch forward as he passed the QB.

Now that I think about it, other than the ONE FREAKING TIME JJ hit dobbs on that double reverse pass, have we run a single reverse?

Heck they used to get the ball to Patterson going full speed in the same type of spread offense.

This opinion may be unpopular, but I don't think we know much about his vision. He usually doesn't have to use it. Most of his good returns are a result of his blocking unit clearing a highway while he follows his lead blocker (Abernathy usually, but it was Byrd against SC) into the crease at full speed. He's also hard as hell to tackle when he doesn't get speared (on a missed call that I'm still pissed about).

I'm not saying he has poor vision. I'm just saying that we don't know because he doesn't need to use it very often.

That said, I do agree that the coaches should try him out on offense, if they haven't already. I don't know how well he can block, run routes, catch (as a receiver, not a returner), run between the tackles, etc... but surely that speed and tackle-breaking ability has a role somewhere in this offense.

I also think they need to stick Mosely back on defense to see if he can be a space eater at least.

Well there you go.

Butch says Evan Berry to have more of a role on offense

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Safety/kick returner Evan Berry also had to get stitches after taking a cleat to the face at South Carolina. He’ll be fine to play against Tennessee Tech, and Jones, when asked about his one play on offense on Saturday, said that Berry’s role with the offense will continue to evolve throughout the season.

I don't know much about the return game, it just seems logical that being able to anticipate holes developing and seeing where seams will be is the hardest part of returning kicks, i.e. vision. Someone more knowledgeable can correct me if I'm wrong.
