I must say this, Moseley has stepped up his play the past two weeks.

Jumper needs to stay in the game all game.

Don't play Berry at LB period anymore.

McDowell needs to play with more of a sense of urgency. Don't know what is what but he doesn't play angry/nasty enough at LB for me.

Abernathy better stop that high tackling garbage. Could've brought Michel down on the first TD and missed several TFLs versus UGA. That's not to be tolerated. Evan Berry made a decent hit immediately when he got in. If that keeps up Abernathy needs to be back at CB (hopefully he brings it this week) and let Warrior/Berry sort it out at safety.

I must commend the coaches on this early down throwing. It has opened this offense completely up. Teams have no choice but to respect the Play action game.

I say play Elliot and Daniel until they figure it out. Give them the reps and let them learn and make mistakes. We are good enough for that to happen

We are going to drag those Jabronis around all afternoon.
Trevor is going to be having Knightmares about our D-line.
We are going to step on their face with a Dobbnail boot, and break their nose.
We are going to take that Dobbnail boot, shine it up real nice, then turn that SOB sideways, and stick it straight up Myles Garrett's candy (you know what)...

There's a backstory to volssam's post. No need to rehash here and clearly you guys don't remember.

I'm glad UT is winning and I'm thrilled to have a winning streak against UGA and FL. I'm a life long fan and love the school. I was asked if I'm sold on Butch now. The honest answer is ... not yet. There are still some head scratching situations with game management and off-the-field personnel issues. That doesn't mean I don't want the Vols to win. It's just an honest answer to a question. If Butch turns into Nick Saban Jr, I will gladly eat my crow.

I'll be sitting on the edge of my couch, beer in hand, living and dying with the Vols on Saturday. Just as I have for 35 years.

Sumlin beat Shoop 56-14 in 2013, but that was with Manziel.

Looking at Shoop's history, he's been good for a blowout against a top team every year. Hoping our defense's speed makes that tradition go away.

And Vandy was Vandy. Shoop worked miracles with that roster, so I don't think it's fair to expect him to shut out prolific offenses with multiple first round picks that even Bama couldn't slow down.

I was jokingly being jerky. You nega Butches do get on my nerves though. Don't lie though, nothing a short of perfection will ever be enough to shut you guys up. Every freaking coach I have evevr watched, including your wet dream Saban, makes head scratching decisions. We are better, a unbelievable amount better, than we were just three years ago. Butch "workaholic" Jones is the reason. Instead of being appreciative, all your kind do is nitpick and Muckrake. But have a nice day..I'm sure Butch will eventually get fired, they nearly all do at some point, and then you can explode with joy. 😁

One thing to watch for is the offensive game plan for TAMU. They primarily play a lot of 10 personnel, which makes it hard to provide help to the ends. They will move the pocket and throw hot to one of the slots often. Vereen and Barnett will get a lot of 1 v. 1 matchups that they have to win for us to be successful.

Sounds like Barnett could have a huge day. I hope we can win the trenches, everything else will fall into place from there. I think we see a high scoring game. 41-38 Vols.

Just being curious here and looking to learn a bit myself - do you guys feel at least a little disappointed Shoop's defense hasn't performed better overall? I know we're missing top players, but based on a lot of the talk prior to the season it seemed everyone felt he would take our D to the next level. I'm not trying to criticize, just wondering what y'all think the reasons are for us not being as dominant as expected. Scheme? Coaching change/style? Key injuries? Sleepwalking? TIA

Honestly, I've been fine with it. It isn't the prettiest, but its resulted in wins, and has been outstanding in 2nd halves.

Preseason, if you laid out the guys on Defense that this team could not lose it would be: JRM, Sutton, Barnett, and Kirkland. They lost 75% those and have still managed Ws against Florida and UGA. It isn't fair for me to move the goalposts because Florida or Georgia look a bit weaker than expected. I wanted those Ws before the year and we've got them.

funny that weve been "lucky" when we had gators and tech down 3 scores late. georgia and app state were escapes i admit, ohio whatever flat performance, but we handled the other two easily. i listened to xm84 this morning and they act like its every week. shows me they dont actually watch the games. this team put together huge 30+ point runs on two good defenses. lucky my arse.

I did some more digging. It looks like they use 5-man protection most of the time. Backs only pass block about 30% of snaps and they are 4-wide on 73% of their snaps.

Just put that guy on ignore. He's pretty nasty (in many ways) most of the time, unfortunately not excluding times he's talking about being a pastor.
