I went and checked on the 31-0 loss to Florida in 1994. The Vols started 1-3 with losses to UCLA and Mississippi St. besides UF. Went 8-3, 5-3 in the SEC and finished at No. 22.

This offense struggled against a UMASS team that OHIO put 58 on today. I'm not sure we can score more than a touchdown on any SEC teams. It sucks that bad.

It all boils down to JG. If he gets a shot in the arm by starting then maybe we see a different team.

I was at MS State game that year. Some vocal fans wanted to pull starting QB and put in backup. Starter was Peyton Manning and Brandon Stewart was back up.

Correct. Phil Fulmer was coaching and Peyton Manning was playing QB. Since neither one of them is in either role, a change needs to be made.

Coming off a 10 win season any top 15 finish the prior season.

Coming off a 10 win season any top 15 finish the prior season.

To me it looks like a bad start and an epic blow out from a perennial rival. I remember '88 when the Vols started losing their first 6 games and then won 16 of the next 17. Teams and coaches can turn it around. It doesn't matter how much fan vitriol there is.
