'18 Recruiting Forum: Official UTEP Pre-Game/Game Thread

Very astute observation.

Of course, there is a difference between Pruitt and a fan. Pruitt can affect the necessary change, while a fan can simply bitch and moan and be generally insufferable.
Or both could simply state their opinions and observations.

Play calling was straight forward today. No bells and whistles were expected though. I did like the toss plays. Seemed like we had some success with those. I think we’ll see some different looks next week.

Chief would have a problem with a sunny day at the beach.

"This sand is too coarse"
"The breeze could be a little bit stronger"
"The water isn't quite clear enough"

Or he's just the dude in the Bud Light commercial asking for a mead...
No he is just trolling for a reaction, which he has admitted, and he always gets it. Y’all make his day.

Look at what we ran today and what we ran against WVU, we were very basic im no as concerned as others. Im still wotholding judgement until next week

If a poster on here said the things that Jeremy Pruitt says they'd be labeled as another Chief.

Pruitt would act the same way if we had just beat UF or WVU like that. Chief is doing it to “keep things in perspective” because it’s Utep. It’s a huge difference

The post was more about pointing out how any negative observation is attacked when some of those observations are identical to coach Pruitt's.

I guess one positive for me is that even when it was only 10-0.....I never felt like they were gonna cut into the lead or tie it up. Something I couldnt say at all during Butch's tenure.
I think we went super vanilla at that point, because Pruitt knew his defense wasn’t going to give up any type of sustained drive to their offense.

It made no sense.
Just not a big deal against UTEP. I’m of the same opinion as @volfanngatorland. I didn’t care for the play calling when they put Chryst in, but the switch itself isn’t a big deal. We weren’t in danger of losing the game. Nothing wrong with throwing Chryst a bone, if nothing else to keep him engaged and happy.

I seriously believe he wanted utep to have as many possessions as possible to give his defense more live action.
If so, they responded to the call. I’m wondering if he wanted more experience for them against a true dual threat? We defended the QB very well...better than we have in a very long time.

If it weren’t for sloppy OL play and those 2 fumbles, we’d have hung 40+ on them. Looked to me like the plan on offense was to play vanilla and lean on the run. Coaches called the plays to win, execution (especially OL) just wasn’t great.
