That line combo is what helped spark the offense. But then they went back to Thomas at center and executed well too. I think it was as much offensive play calling adjustments as it was personnel adjustments.

Having said that, Jones needs to come in on occasion as a change of pace from here on out.

When he first came in, we were running the ball very effectively right behind.

The long trip back to ATL wil be so much easier tomorrow enjoying this win. We had a lot short fields tonight. There are still a lot of concerns about our offense, IMO. Florida's DL will eat our OL for lunch if something doesn't change. Jack Jones needs to be starting...he's one of our best OL. What did you guys think about the rotation of Kendrick, Robertson, Wiesman, Jones, and Thomas from left to right? Really hard to see where we were, but that group seemed to hold their blocks better.

I think any combination that includes Jack Jones but does not have Coleman Thomas at center is an improvement over the lineup we started the last two games.

Thanks go to the Hokies for bailing us out last night with the fumbles.

Thanks go to Jack Jones and Dylan Wiesman. Thanks go to Debord for knowing to try that. Until he decided it worked too well.

Thanks goes to Josh Malone. Glad to be saying that this year. Well done young man!

Thanks to Josh Dobbs. Resiliency.

Thanks go to Tuttle, Vickers and Danny O for bringing it, especially in the second half. K-Mac - take note.

Butch - Dobbs needs the handcuffs off. His running also opens up the passing game. You don't need to run fake zone reads (gap scheme) a hundred times for the zone read keeper to work. He will not take too many hits on structured plays. He takes too many on scrambling. He's a senior, let him do his job. You also need to adjust your scheme and be on the look out for an OC.

Finally, Butch, let the best players play regardless of seniority and man love. Remember that Ohio is much better than their MAC affiliation suggests. Open the playbook.

With that - good win. I missed the score prediction by that last score Tech got when the back-ups were in.

Why are our fans saying Va.Tech bailed us out?

Our defense took the game over period. We were forcing fumbles and getting after them.

Gaulden blasted the QB and set the tone. And the D-line wore their O-line down.

TKjr flat out blasted their RB to cause one of those fumbles. He didn't just drop the ball.

I've wondered why more teams don't blast the QB on the option more often like Gaulden did. Those hits accumulated on their QB and it was evident.

My thoughts as well as I read thru the thread. A D with pressure and stripping the ball causes turnovers.
Teams with less turnovers typically win. Dobbs keeping it and creating things helped the O line look better cause they could not peel ears back and just rush like crazy. We can't enjoy what was really a four TD win that when down 14-0, the team fought back. That would not have happened before jones. His teams always play hard. Some catchable balls were dropped or passing stats would've been better and the throws were good. Team will keep improving. Kirk being out is biggest threat to team goals more than the OC or anyone else. 2-0 boys. Try to enjoy the good things.

Didn't we recover two fumbles inside the 10?

Defense played great, but our offense was definitely the beneficiary of Va-Tech miscues and the defense stepping up.
