You have to remember how much youth inexperience on both sides of the ball. It's not going to be an sec east championship team but I think you'll see constant improvement throughout and some of these guys getting minutes now will not be as he keeps bringing in more of his guys a la buchancen and several others

Before the game I wasn’t buying into the Grier Heisman talk but he was dropping dimes. There were some big passes that even Bama DBs would stop. Of course, if we had a pass rush, he wouldn’t have been able to make those throws.

We legit had starting CBs that were true freshman cause our more experienced DBs aren’t that good.

I thought flowers made a coverage mistake in that situation. When you roll coverage on a corner blitz like that you can’t get beat deep as a safety. Hell give them the 15 yard come back or whatever. But don’t let him get behind you. That’s the cardinal rule. Oh well he will learn.

Yep. Need to be more creative with the blitzing and dline need more pass rush moves

They do tackle better. Abernathy does not and Warrior still doesn’t seem to as well as an NFL caliber player should.

For as bad as the secondary was today they didn’t throw it to Alontae’s side very often only gave up one catch.

Noticed the same thing. Grier probably in for Heisman, so I'm going to cut our VOLS a bit of slack. Hard game to start with, but I feel like we can build on this and improve.

Works both ways tho. Not saying either of those guys looked good but it’s hard to get pressure when the QB has guys wide open on a 3 step drop.

Those CB and slot blitzes weren’t fooling anyone. Grier saw them coming every time and made us pay

Good DL pressure helps DB coverage. Not saying solves it but sure helps. We may not see a better passing QB this year. Some of those passes were just indefensible.

Honestly it sounds weird but lots of positives to take away. Offensive line found some nuts. JG is good. Receivers good. Backs good.

Pass rush had moments. Run d had moments.

Defense was terrible with the exception of Alontae. I don’t think he was targeted all night.

Offense got a lot better. JG is the man and we have some studs at receiver and RB. My only complaint about the offense is that Helton didn’t throw the ball down the field against their garbage secondary. They had time from the second corner on to do it. JG was protected. But Helton never called for it

Absolutely. Take the deep angle away and keep everything in front when you come hot on the boundary.

Does 22 tackle better in practice?
