Like so many players we’ve had the last few years it seems like his best year was as a freshman. I thought he looked solid his first year as the nickel and lead blocker on kickoffs.

Looks like he thinks the young DB’s are more capable of playing his brand of D, and he wants them to be tested early and often. We will see better teams this season than we did tonight, but we may not see a better passing team.

I suspect that if we can't muster a pass rush and we continue to trust these freshmen to cover one on one, I'd say we'll make a few QBs look like Heisman contenders before the years out.

Looks like all of those media folks were right and we were wrong.

I do this every year.

Wonder when I will learn.

I took some positives out of today’s game.

I do think we will improve but it will be an up and down year.

Making it to a bowl game from our starting point today would be a success.

I’m probably will get flamed for this but I don’t think we go bowling this year. I think 5 is our ceiling. The d line probably won’t get fixed this year. Besides all the good teams we play lock and Bentley will torch these db’s if they have all day to throw

For me it wasn't just being in a new scheme but his tackling was just awful. I know each one of us see a game or player in a different way and Warrior for me was just not hitting he was arm tackling and doing that poorly. I really saw some encouraging things. I saw a different mentality and QB that I didn't really have any confidence make really good choices and pass. JG has got me on his bandwagon now.

If its the same team from today you might be right, but I think these freshmen DBs will continue to get better as the season progresses. At least to the point where they’re not getting torched as much as today.

no, no one does. i think today's game at least puts stuff on film that gets you ready for a qb and offnese like Mizzou.

long way to go though before we get to that point.

this is defintely a week by week proposition at this point.

Guy lost four yards after Warrior slowed him down and pursuit followed but was an open field tackle and he could’ve blown him up but went high. Horrible form. He doesn’t want to lay the wood. He isn’t anything like his father or else he’s saving himself. Again, like I said, nothing like his father.

I’m just not ready to write off a November 17th game against a meh opponent on September 1st

Will be 2 very different teams by then

i think they will be too. how much different is the question. not sure how 'meh' wvu is. they didn't beat a great team today, but they did what good teams do to bad teams.

It’s not just about them being freshman and not knowing their assignments but if a qb has 10 seconds to throw every play he is goung to find someone open. I don’t think it’s goofing to matter if they improve and learn their assignments if we can’t get pressure

My give a damn meter concerning this program is apparently just about broken. I left the game today feeling fine. Seeing the Vols get blown out by a team that isn’t even Bama didn’t faze me. That’s concerning. But it’s nice to not be sitting here feeling I got socked in the gut like I used to after every loss.

Fan Apathy. I think a lot of fans are there with you. I don’t feel as bad about this loss as I usually do. I will still follow and watch if I’m off but I’m not going to spend any exorbitant amount of time and money on the program until they prove to me they are actually going to turn a corner. For the first time in years I am not going to a game this year

Still have a lot of issues to fix.

OL looked lost first quarter.
Still not sure what the problem is with the DL, very little pressure, even when we blitzed.

I actually thought the freshman db's played better than the older guys. Made freshman mistakes but that's to be expected.

The Lb's are what puzzled me the most. I expected way more out of them. Maybe they haven't gotten the mental part down yet and we're thinking too much but it's like they disappeared.
Qb looked good and Jordan ran hard. Banks made a couple plays but we need better rb's.

Pruitt took the blame in the press conference which was a nice change of pace. I still think we have a good coach, just need to get his players in to fit this system.

Gonna take time.

Being a vol fan has sucked the last 10 years. I'm ready to win again.
