I look at the OU game as two games. (I know, my math sucks) but if we can beat OU, that tells me we will beat Mo. If we lose to OU, then we probably lose to either Mo. or Ark. because our injuries have just been to much to overcome.

8-4

Side Predictions:

1. Pearson leads the team in receiving yards and TDs, but Pig leads in Receptions again.

2. Defense finishes top 15. Inexperience on the interior of the front 7 and depth concerns at CB/NB keep it from being a top 10 unit.

I got our record right, but missed wildly on everything else (though Pearson was just 11 yards behind Malone receiving).

8-4

There are seven lose-able games on the schedule:

Oklahoma
Florida
Georgia
Arkansas
Alabama
South Carolina
Missouri

I think we go 3-4 in those in some fashion or form.

Defense finishes top 4 in the SEC.

JMO, but those seem like lofty stats for one game, even if it's just Bowling Green.

Some of those are a little out there....but the only question I have is Vandy's 5 wins. Who are the other 4?

Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma are tough games. Florida has talent if they can get it all pointed in the right direction. Not sure what to make of Arkansas until I see them, especially after losing their best RB... but they would seem to be the team best-equipped to cope with our defensive line. I also believe South Carolina is dangerous - that team has talent at the skill positions, and you know Spurrier is going to want to steal one back in the worst way.

We'll smack Bowling Green and North Texas. I don't see Missouri as a threat unless they pull some more future NFL defensive linemen out of their hat again... and even then, I believe that we have a talent advantage over them now. There's some talent in Kentucky and we can't overlook them, but at the same time I'm not worried about that game if we show up.

Pretty sure that covers everybody.

The horn I've been trumpeting to this point has been that I predict 8-4 but believe this team has the talent and the circumstances to be more than that - perhaps significantly more. But I'm hesitant to expect more out of this team when they're still reliant on major contributions from so many underclassmen. A tough year would be 7-5 or worse. Would either involve some significant injuries or some significant letdowns - a disappointment either way. 8-4 is a successful season and keeps us on our path. 9-3 or better - especially with an appearance in Atlanta and/or a bowl win - officially wakes up the monster IMO.

Well, I intentionally made them out there because "Ohio State will notch double-digit wins" or something like that is not a shock at all. So even if I just hit on a couple of these I'd consider that pretty amazing.

Fair enough.

I just asked because their record has been discussed a lot in the Make Fun of Vandy thread and I've had a miserable time finding much more than 2 or 3 wins for them.

I think they'll be better from what I've seen and heard. They were one of the youngest teams in the country as well last year. That said, I hope they win 3 games or less again and I"ll happily be wrong about the prediction :D

If you think Vols have 4th best defense in sec and think we loose 4 games your wrong ,if defense finishes 4th in sec Vols will be 9-3 at worst.

That's true. I would say their schedule got much more difficult, though...

It's called a prediction. Can't be wrong until December.

BGSU W- Babers high octane, fast pass offense will have UT fans scratching their heads for the first half because the game will be closer than expected. UT pulls away in the second half because BGSU has no defense.

Hope you're similarly correct next week.

I've thought 8-4 all summer, but finding 4 Ls that I'd put money on is really difficult. I'll stick there for now just for the sake of going with my initial thought.

What I'd like to see is the worm to turn and instead of teams having wild success right as its our turn to play them (think OM, Aub, LSU), have some teams stumble into facing UT while they're screaming hot.

Like Oklahoma have a rough time out of the gate with their offense, Arkansas have huge defensive issues no one expected, UGA never get the QB spot settled and Chubb get butterfingers...and so on.

Cool. Least I got the numbers right.

8-4.

I'm going with the realistic one. I don't believe that we have the depth to win the east yet. We are definitely on the rise, but as much as people hate to hear this, we are still a year away.

Bump. I did well with this prediction.

9-3.

Yes, the OL is still an issue. But our defense will be top 10 nationally because of how good it is upfront. The DL will carry the team, much like how UF and Mizzou have reached 10+ wins in recent seasons due to their elite DLs.

Oh, and the East is going to be bad. Really bad. No bowl for South Carolina or Florida. Vandy wins 1 or 2. Kentucky is the only team that improves by going 6-6. Mizzou goes 8-4.

I was wrong. I said 8-4 with a 9-3 ceiling due to OL concerns and DB and LB concerns. I was wrong because I said if we suffered many injuries, especially along the OL, or to LB and DB, that we would be lucky to win 6 games. That is why I think Butch has done a really good job. He vastly outperformed my prediction. The injuries we had should have totally derailed the season according to my own thoughts. That didn't happen.

This one is for the bragging rights. Bump it at the end of the season and see where we are at.

Format: W/L record (regular season) and two additional predictions about the team. Discussion and explanation is welcome.

9-3

Personally, without looking at the schedule, I feel like this is a 4 loss team. When looking at the schedule, I see two losses. I'll trust my eyes, and expect a slip up along the way to land at 9-3.

1. Hurd - 1,000 yards, Kamara - 800 yards rushing.
2. Vols win the East.

Bump, yo stuff, ladies and gents. It's time for a lil' dabbing. How long has that been a thing, anyways? News travels slow here.

Should have gone with my feelings, at 8-4, so I'm a loss under. I thought losses to OK and Bama. I thought there was no way under the sun we would lose to ARK... or Florida, but thought we would catch UGA, and we did.

Hurd got his 1,000. I think we were all surprised at Kamara's lack of carries, though he got some jollies in the return and passing game. Kamara finished the regular season with 546 rushing yards. Would you have believed that in the FL, ARK, UGA, Bama stretch, he averaged 20 yards per game?

We should have been in Atlanta. No one on earth saw Florida coming this season. On to the bowl game! :hi:

10-2

1. Vols win the East.
2. One of Hurd/Kamara/Dobbs becomes a dark horse Heisman candidate.

Butch Jones!!!

We had a legitimate shot at all of these. If the major injury bug didn't hit us, then we are probably pretty close to 10-2. With that said, I'm still proud of how this team fought and grinded. I would have never guessed 8 wins and 4 losses by only 17 points, if you would have told me before the season started how many injuries we would have and who would be affected. Now, let's just win the bowl game...BIG!!!!

im going with 9-3 but im nervous as hell about it, cause well the past few years has me gun shy

but looking at it logically, well its about kmac and shy really. i dont think youre going to be able to run on us at will anymore.. so 15-0 basically

git sum
