Even if you take the pessimistic view LWS lays out several important positives.

Butch is done, we are merely waiting on when

The short list has good coaches on it, just not great

We have cash and are not afraid to spend it this time on the right hire

The OL has had their moments (2015 vs. Bama), but overall, OL play has been all five years. We had multiple NFL OL Butch's first year, we have some there now waiting to be developed IMO, and we've been through 2 OL coaches now. So I'm convinced this is because of garbage blocking scheme. Yes we had some record-setting offenses the previous two years, but I truly believe that's because we had some exceptional skill players in Dobbs, Kamara, Malone, and yes, Hurd that were able to excel in spite of this pee wee league scheme.

Yea I don't like the blocking scheme either but I it really is inaccurate to act as if the offense was a fail in his tenure. It's been a fail this year. That is the only fair thing to say

Academic thing is just what is being shared, I'm not making that argument one way or another. I'm willing to admit that I don't know enough about it.

And that's my stance in general. I don't know.

I think it's naive to think Currie is just twiddling his thumbs. There is a plan, it's being followed imo. we will see what happens.

The academic thing looks to be what the AD is feeding Jimmy. Their actual reasons for continuing to do nothing are anyone's guess, but hopefully they're good.

One of his biggest mistakes this year was being too insecure to do any better than promoting LS to OC.

Its hard to say because of Josh Dobbs

The offense was 2nd in the SEC In back to back years with him at QB.

It was very good after he took over his Soph year as well

Outside that, it's been anywhere from bad to terrible

Yes. And I appreciate Butch for assembling perhaps the best collection of offensive skill talent we've had since 2001. I still maintain that Dobbs, Kamara, Malone, even Hurd and Jennings were able to succeed in spite of that scheme. Imagine what they would have been able to do behind an OL that doesn't have to guess if every play is run or pass, and can just go out there and hit someone in the mouth.

Yep. We can't make someone want to coach or want to coach here, but we can still make a good hire that could turn out to be great.

I cannot get into specifics, but I encountered an unusual exchange and a lock down of info on some parallels and theories i posted. That is the primary driver for my optimism.

1. We are being hyped up and leveraged against the AD by boosters that love FB
2. This is an all or nothing play for a homerun hire and a changing of the AD landscape at UT
3. Currie would be a fool not to play along
4. Butch's incompetence has helped that play

People don't want to hear it, and this is the last time I'm posting it, but UT does not have the next HC in place. Gruden has not told UT he wants to coach college football, and there is no formal offer or acceptance. UT has a HC, and the university is doing due diligence.

Not great news for Homecoming Week, but that's where it is.

See, you and I are way closer on this than either of us originally realized.

I have no sources and it seems you do. I do believe I’m okay at reading tea leaves and those thinking Gruden is a done deal are nuts imo.

My gut tells me we end up with an up and comer like Brohm. I think Frost goes UF or Nebraska.

Thoughts on who we land?

At least it brings a smile to my face to think back to idiots in the media claiming UF was darkhorse for the playoffs. Haha haha! We tried to tell them.

That’s what we did with butch and look how it turned out.

I am holding out hope that we may have some actual football people that actually know football (i.e. Manning & Fulmer) informing the choice this time, and not just a bunch of suits in a room.

And Butch was an average hire at the time. Unknown in recruiting, no outright conference titles in the Big East, etc

Plenty of people that "seem" to have sources also say otherwise.

I certainly hope you're wrong.

None of which is ground breaking news.

It's going to be a sh** show in the gruden forum. They have lost their minds

Tbh, they are starting to accept that the hire is more important than when Jones is let go. Also coming to terms with the "he must be fired immediately" mantra is based in their own emotions and wants, instead of standard AD practice.
Weird they're figuring it out faster than the RF but hulk hands is trying to help.

I blame the influence of bass-hysteria :)
