Your forgetting that JG would’ve gotten Bama coaching. Not Butch and Canales. Big difference. He’s more talented than Hurts imo, especially since Hurts is basically a runner. He’s a terrible passer

Have you seen how much better of a thrower he’s gotten this year?

Yeah, give me the upside of Frost any day over Mullen. Not to disparage the job he's done there, but I see his ceiling as being 1 game better than Butch's here.

Had he been the coach of this team for the last two years I'm thinking we're back to back eastern division champs. I think a down year for him at Tennessee would be 8-4.

I'd argue JG would start. He would've played ahead of Hurts last year for sure in that offense. He's definitely a better passer.

He isn't near the runner Hurts is either. Hurts would start. your hard on for Guarantano is amazing

He has improved but still isn’t great. And he was terrible last year as a passer and that was his first year. JG has just played one game. So acting like Hurts would be better in the same situation is foolish. JG has more tools as a passer, he just doesn’t have the experience of the coaching that Hurts has.

Maybe, maybe not. To me, he's very meh- an upgrade, but a slight one. There is a possible NCAA cloud, so if you are prepared to deal with that, why not just go get the better coach in Chip Kelly?

With proper coaching Hurts wouldn’t be near the passer JG is. He’s played one game guys, and is coached by the RB’s coach from Utah State. Wait until he has real coaching and see how much he improves when he starts the season next year. He’ll get better throughout this season also with experience. There’s a reason JG was ranked higher than Hurts coming out of high school. Hurts is an athlete playing QB.

I could see Mullen beating Vandy and USC like we all want but I do not see him beating a good UGA, (good) UF, or Bamma. Plus I do not think he can recruit as well as Butch so the whole see what he can do with good talent is a loaded statement.

Does Mullen strike any of you as someone that would out recruit Smart?

Can we please quit acting like butch and co are 2A high school coaches. Do you really think that if JG was that good a crappy coach could even stunt him that much.

Yes actually he does. Mississippi State has put a lot of NFL players in under Mullen. So he’s either evaluating right or developing Talent with the best of them.
