Recruiting Forum: UNofficial Mizzou Pre-Game Thread

I may be way off but does Butch remind anyone else of Dabo Swinney at Clemson?

Great recruiter, motivator, CEO of the program, and good with the fans/media, but a questionable game day coach. Also must rely on upper echelon coordinators to be successful (not saying we have those).

That thought crossed my mind tonight. Could be wrong.

So I think we can all agree that there was some bad defensive play calling, bad offensive play calling, bad execution on both sides, some screwy calls by the refs, bad time management at the end of both halves, and we were missing quite a few of our better prayers.

All that said, we expect to win every game, and when in comes to being that close at the end of the game, everyone knows that we could have and should have won.

Most people said 5-7 or 6-6 at beginning of the season. Unfortunately,a few glimpses of hope got our hopes up and we thought we could do better. We can still finish 7-6 with an extra month of practice for a lot of young players.

Go Vols. This sucks. We all wanted to win this and finish the season on a five game streak.

I agree, at least we have a bowl game this year. Need to get this aj deal straightened out, it was a huge distraction to the players and coaches. They looked bad tonight, Mizzou is OK, but ut did not look like there heads were in the game

Retroactive offsides. I want to know exactly what information the red got from the booth. If you don't call it before the review, you should get to just add it on after the review.

Something screwy happened. They definitely threw a flag for offsides but never mentioned it. It made me think they picked it up. Then it magically appeared again. Something tells me the booth might have reviewed something they weren't supposed to.

That's what I said. The ref called it after the review. As they didn't say what number was offsides.

Defense obviously did not play well. Did anyone keep a close eye on Jakob Johnson? Think he'll take over the mlb next season?
If he doesn't get better I doubt it. Looked lost a fair amount. Then again these were his first snaps and he didn't look that bad. Idk I'm torn

Watched him pretty closely. Was not overly impressed, but didn't seem terrible. Haven't seen Gavin Bryant play a down so at the moment he seems like the favorite to play mlb. This spring and extra bowl practices could be huge for him.

At this time I wouldn't take Vandy for granted. I know, I know they suck. The worst team on our schedule but this game has caused me to go back to my Dooley days of insecurities.

I'm not sure what to say...special teams rocked tonight? Minus the off sides that was called but actually wasn't called on the first onside attempt. Bunch of bull hockey that...Bad call on the challenge too, but should not have been necessary. Ugh! Must. Beat. Candy.

yup.

and then coleman with the illegal touching.

well-coached there.

We had that too. Coleman needed to hammer the Mizzou guy, not turn around and touch early. We had them outnumbered by a lot. Coleman just got excited, hard to fault him for that, unlike his defense.

Defense didn't play all that bad, except for giving up some big plays. Mizzou has a good defense.

I'm right there with you. Once again this team reminded me to not get my hopes up and put to much faith in them.
