I just didn't really see the game that way. I saw some really promising drives that were pulled to a screeching halt by unacceptable interceptions. That was the one thing we could not get away with in a game like this. You say we didn't move the ball. But we really moved the ball better than Ole Miss did through most of the first half. It wasn't until we had to start playing from behind that Ole Miss really pinned their ears back and started making things more difficult. Our offense looked smooth and fluid at times. Did I hate the double reverse? Yep. But you have to try some things like that when you're the underdog. The reverse was there. The double was just greedy and overthinking it.
We played toe to toe with a really good team until Worley killed us. KILLED US. Throw the ball in the stands once in a while. Through the uprights. I don't care. We aren't a great team. We definitely aren't good enough to withstand 4 turnovers on the road against a team that good. Ole Miss just waited patiently until they got momentum and then they striked. I would argue that if they had 4 turnovers and we had none, we probably win that game by a similar score.
The team that makes the fewest mistakes wins. Unfortunately Worley had probably his worst game of the year. It's a shame, because he made some really good throws in there too.
Do I have a solution? Nope. I like how we're recruiting and how we're competing. I'm proud of our defense. This defense is only getting better from here on out. We just need consistency in the other side if the ball. The play makers are there. We just can't afford turnovers against teams that good on the road. Bottom line. That's it.
