Recruiting Forum: UNofficial Ole' Miss Pre-Game Thread

Ok. I didn't question it initially. But it's only there because people say it. But I don't believe it to be a real word. Don't get too upset, just giving you a hard time because it's something else to talk about.

I'm good. Just pi$$ed about the game.

I base my opinion solely upon what I've seen on the field.

So, let's go down the list, shall we...

We get blown out by a (now) struggling Oklahoma team that looks NOWHERE NEAR as good in the last two weeks as they did when we played them.

We get out coached for the third year in a row (10th overall), second for this staff, by a coach who will go down as the WORST HC BY A MILE at Florida for the last 30 years.

Now, we get beaten like a rented mule by a team that Memphis gave fits.

And, for the record, I really like Butch and I sincerely hope my opinion is wrong but I'm done making excuses for losing, period.

It's becoming more and more necessary for Butch to perform at an ELITE level off the field so that they can overcome the pedestrian coaching on the field.

Very unpopular opinion, I know, but I've seen this movie before...

Summed it up pretty well. There are many on here that will never bring themselves to admit such things. The desperation of the fanbase is clouding their ability to see reality.

The prefix "ir" and the suffx "less" both mean "not or without." Irregardless is a double negative in a single word.

Been a while since i've had grammer, but entire sentences werent allowed two negatives.

I realize that I would have been counted off in English 101 but this is a message board and it's a word that's commonly used. Please accept my apologies for being offensive to the queen's English.

Read the last line of your link.... "Use regardless instead"

But I will admit I was wrong, it is a word...

It's only a word because enough people insist on using it. The dictionary defines words that people use, it doesn't determine what is a made up word or not.

Most dictionaries have ginormous and ain't and irregardless because people use the, so someone has to define them.

His reaction said differently and he apologized for it during the post game.

It's whatever though.

His reaction and his original actions tell different stories.

You kneel it there, period. I respect that he (seemingly) felt bad about it after the fact, but that doesn't make it right. I like Freeze, but I lost a bit of respect for him over that move.

Irregardless this offense is pathetic and is regressing not improvimg as you'd expect a well coach team to do. The opposing coaches have figured this O out and we're incapable of adjusting.

Haven't all words in use today been added in a similar fashion? I mean we had to start somewhere.

Not really. I really don't care enough to call people out on it, but if we want to be technical, irregardless ignores the meanings of its pre/suffix, which have been standard for centuries.

Everyone knows what it means though so it's not worth calling people out in casual situations.

I agree with everything you have listed here. Unfortunately, someone has to be the whipping post. If we get rid of Butch its just going to be restarting the clock on getting back to being a competitive SEC team.

When recruiting begins to slide, he's done.

I'd like to say that I can see things going down differently if a new OC is brought in but, Bajakian is Jones' guy and thereby an extension of Butch...changing OC's would mean changing his offensive philosophy, something I just don't see happening.

I agree but centuries ago when they were putting words in the dictionary, someone had to say "oh we forgot to put in this word or that word becuase you know Johnny says that all the time.

Also, irregardless was in my spell check dictionary too.

Don't you start on me too! I'm not in the mood for this sh!t! :)

Haha, as long as you take it in stride and good spirits.

That one is just one of my trigger words. It's similar to how our entire fanbase (as defined by VN) has some weird aversion to the word "saw" and insists on using "seen" in the completely wrong context.

Bring in an elite OC, swallow the pride, and do what you do best: recruit and manage the team.
